PSYSIOTHERAPEUTIC AND BALNEOLOGICAL DAYS 2019 IN PIEŠŤANY

Institute of Physiotherapy, Balneology and Medical Rehabilitation in Piešťany - the part of University of Ss. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava (IFBLR UCM in Trnava) organized the International Congress of Piešťany Physiotherapeutic and Balneological Days for the fourth time on October 10-11, 2019, which took place in the beautiful environment of the Slovak Medical Spa Piešťany - Congress Center on Spa Island. It is clear from the name that it was a meeting of physiotherapists and balneologists, in addition with physicians of various specializations, because physiotherapy extends to almost all clinical medical fields. This interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary connection gives this congress an exceptional hallmark and distinguishes it from other, narrowly specialized events. Historically, our Congress follows two narrowly specialized conferences - “Balneological Days” organized in the spa and “Neurorehab” in the past organized alternately by our IFBLR UCM in Trnava and the Catholic University in Ružomberok under the baton of MUDr. Štefan Madarász, PhD. Since 2016, the Neurorehab Conference has been organized only by the University of Ružomberok always in the spring term, ours are regularly in the autumn, so we complement each other.

Piešťany Days, as we briefly call our conference, is organized by IFBLR UCM in Trnava by other institutions from Slovakia, Czech Republic and Poland - Slovak Chamber of Physiotherapists, Slovak Spa Piestany, Klimkovice Sanatorium, Faculty of Biomedical Engineering CTU in Prague and University of Management in Warsaw .

This year, more than 700 participants attended the congress. Foreign lecturers were from Germany, Poland, Italy and the participation of the Czech Republic was extraordinary - almost a third of all lectures.

Every year we try to change the main topics of the conference - last year it was sudden stroke - this year, muscle tone disorders in various diseases and cognitive impairment, which have a significant impact on patient access.

We are looking forward to the fifth edition of the Piešťany Days, which are planned for 8th-9th of October 2020.
