STUDENTS FROM PRIMARY AND SECONDARY SCHOOLS PRACTICALLY LEARNED HOW TO UNDERSTAND THE MEDIA

Trnava, 18th of October 2019 - Fourty students accompanied by six teachers from four elementary schools and one secondary school today attended a media education course. Together with teachers, PhD students and students of the Faculty of Mass Media Communication UCM in Trnava, they practically learned how to develop their media skills and how to understand the media in digital studios.

The focus of education was on five areas of productive media education: film, school television, school radio, photography and poster. The content of the course was prepared on the basis of students' media products that schools sent to the Faculty of Mass Media Communication of UCM expert teams in Trnava. These are pstudents from selected schools who have participated in the competition for the best examples of good practice in media education teaching at primary and secondary schools.

The competition was organized by the Training Media Center and IMEC - International Media Literacy Center at the Faculty of Mass Media Communication of UCM in Trnava from October 2018 to January 2019.

The aim of the course was to develop students' media competencies, especially their productive skills and reflexive abilities. This included testing aimed at identifying the level of students' critical attitude to media news and reflection on productive media learning.
