UNIVERSITY DECLARATION

Principles of Human Rights in the process of internationalization of education

„ALL HUMAN BEINGS ARE BORN FREE AND EQUAL IN DIGNITY AND RIGHTS. THEY ARE ENDOWED WITH REASON AND CONSCIENCE AND SHOULD ACT TOWARDS ONE ANOTHER IN A SPIRIT OF BROTHERHOOD.“ (Universal declaration of Human Rights, article 1)

In the process of internationalization of education, University of Ss. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava (UCM) disassociates itself from any manifestation of violence, we act in accordance with the Charter of Fundamental Human Rights and Freedoms and on the principles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in our university activities related to the internationalization of education.

The principles laid down in it are as valid today as they were in 1948, when it was adopted by the UN General Assembly. This document puts all responsibility and strengthens us in our activities. It sets the dignity of each person and the value of human life on an equal footing. It also confirms that the state has a primary duty to promote standards of living that enable us to exercise our dignity and equality in greater freedom.

IMPORTANT HUMAN RIGHTS, PRINCIPLES, UNIVERSAL VALUES

The declaration lists the inalienable rights of each individual as a human being, regardless of color, sex, language, religion or opinion. Human rights are important to all of us on a daily basis. These include our rights to freedom; the right not to be afraid to express freely (to speak out loudly); the right to health and education; as well as the right to benefit from measures to promote economic and social justice.

Our common humanity and shared humanity are rooted in these universal values. As people we are connected in this world. These human rights that we have in common (plus mutual solidarity and responsibility for these rights) are exactly what unites us on our planet Earth. Equality, justice and freedom should prevent violence and maintain peace. Respect for human rights and sound, impartial legal standards for dispute resolution are at the heart of development and peace.
