LETTER OF DEAN OF FACULTY OF MASS MEDIA COMMUNICATION OF UCM TO STUDENTS

Dear students,

the management of the Faculty of Mass Media Communication of UCM modified the original schedule of the academic year 2019/2020 due to the current situation with the development of the pandemic. During its modification, we carefully considered the current state and conditions of our students and teachers. Under the current circumstances, we must first and foremost keep in mind the health of all our students and staff.

In this situation, no one can think of themselves. It is necessary to realize that there are 2300 students studying at the faculty, 150 employees, including PhD students. More than 700 students are planned to take part in the state exams. We plan to take entrance exams and we look forward to being interested in the faculty, we already have more than 600 applications. We therefore ask all of you for understanding and tolerance.

Online classes have already begun in some classes. I believe it will be added more from next week. Most of us do not have the problem of adapting quickly to the new conditions, but we have students and educators who might have difficulty meeting the original timetable.

We must think of everyone. We must think of students who are in their homes with insufficient technical and internet equipment, of students and colleagues in quarantine or health problems. Let us not forget the students and colleagues who take care of children who do not attend school, the working external students, the volunteers who help in their cities. We must think of all those who might not have mastered the original academic year schedule. However, we do not see the problem if you meet your study obligations in advance or take the exams earlier so that you may be available to those who may need you.

Probably the biggest problem with postponing the schedule and the state exams may be the students planning to travel abroad. They do not know how to proceed, because travel agencies have not yet canceled their travel. Even in this case we can respond operatively, be calm. The large number of new cases in the US or the situation in China, which has been fighting for the third month, show that traveling during the summer can be endangered.

Dear students,

take this time to study, write your final works and prepare for exams. Communicate with your teachers and respect the instructions you receive from them. Be prepared for your evaluation to be conducted on-line (or other distance) form of education. It is highly likely that we will not return to full-time teaching this semester.

I can assure you that the faculty management is continuously working on individual solutions to all the problems of our students and staff. I hope that you are all healthy and you manage this exceptional situation.
Keep your fingers crossed so that postponing the academic year schedule is our biggest and only problem.

Sincerely
Ľudmila Čábyová,
Dean of the Faculty of Mass Media Communication of UCM
