Visit of the State Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic to the UCM in Trnava
On October 12, 2020, the rector of the university prof. Roman Boča welcomed on the grounds of the University of Ss. Cyril and Methodius state secretary MUDr. RNDr. Ľudovít Paulis, PhD. MPH. The reception also included a delegation of colleagues from the sister Trnava University in Trnava, led by the rector prof. René Bílik, with the participation of deans of faculties and a student representative. UCM was also represented by the vice-rector prof. Peter Sýkora, all deans of UCM faculties, director of the Institute of Management, and chairman of the Student Council.
At the beginning prof. Boča welcomed those present at the UCM in Trnava and thanked to the state secretary for accepting the invitation even in this difficult time. Subsequently, in the form of a presentation, he introduced our Alma mater not only in terms of educational and research activities, but also in terms of technical and instrumentation, teaching spaces and UCM student dormitories, many of which we are currently revitalizing and renewing.
Rector of the Trnava University prof. Bílik had a short speech in which they recall especially the history of the Trnava University.
State secretary in his speech set out plans for what universities can expect from the Ministry of Education, what legislative processes and regulations are being prepared. He pointed out the need for cooperation between universities and the need to connect universities into larger units. He also informed about the planned reassessment of the subsidy scheme and changes in the allocation of funds. The idea of creating a strong "Trnava University Center", which could be created by merging universities operating in Trnava, was also expressed.
In the next part of the meeting, a discussion developed in which the state secretary answered questions from those present at the two academic communities of the universities.
After the end of the meeting at the UCM Rectorate, the visit continued with a tour of the premises of the Faculty of Mass Media Communication UCM on Skladová Street in Trnava, specifically the HD television studio FMK TV and the student radio studio Aetter.
