UCM International Staff Week 2022

The pilot edition of the UCM Staff Week 2022 took place last week on November 28, 2022 – December 1, 2022. The event was organized under the leadership of the International Relations Department team with the active participation of individual UCM faculties and the Institute of Management.

28 participants of the event from 9 different universities come from 6 different European countries: Czech Republic, Croatia, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Serbia. Foreign guests took part in the event under the auspices of the mobility project Erasmus KA131 and thus realized their pedagogical and non-pedagogical mobilities.

The UCM Staff Week 2022 event was indeed very rich in program and our participants enjoyed every single part of it. The individual days of the event were realized according to the concept "each part of the UCM covers one half-day of the program" and thus it was possible to actively involve all ties and institutes in the event equally.

The IRO team welcomed all guests on Monday 28 November 2022 at the opening ceremony, where, in addition to the University in general, all its components were presented by representatives of the faculties and the institute.
The introductory block was followed by a lecture by Mgr. Marta Kuhnová PhD. on the topic: "The importance of creating quality partnerships within international projects."

At the end the official opening of the event the vice-president of the local board of the ESN organization, a student at UCM – Bc. Ivana Adzić presented the ESN organization, its activities and cooperation with UCM. After the joint lunch, it was time for the program of the UCM Faculty of Arts. English students conducted a tour of the city in English and thus presented the rich history of the city and monuments to the participants. The tour of the city ended in the West Slovak Museum, where the guests were introduced to the history of the West Slovak region through an exhibition.

Subsequently, they also got to know the culinary delights at the Christmas markets in the city center. The second day of the event started with a seminar on "Challenges of internationalization within the Erasmus+ programme." led by the Department of International Relations, where each participant had the opportunity to present their home institution.

The afternoon program belonged to the Faculty of Mass Media Communication, where the facilities of multimedia and neurolab studies were presented in the premises of UCM Skladová, Trnava. The participants thus had the opportunity to look behind the scenes of AETTER radio broadcasts and get to know more about the results of the students' audiovisual work. In the evening, the guests had the opportunity to participate in a festive joint dinner at the Mrva and Stanko winery, and for many, this experience was the highlight of the program.

On the third day of the event, the OMV team again took care of the morning program, where guests discussed the results of the online test they took at a joint seminar with the topic: "Testing character features in professional life".
The programme of the Faculty of Social Sciences began with a bus trip to the nearby town of Svätý Jur, where a virtual tour of historical buildings was prepared for the visitors, carried out in the interest of digitizing public administration under the auspices of the Digital Village project.

After the joint lunch at the UCM, the guests had the opportunity to participate in the Institute of Management's program entitled "Traditions and Traditional Foods and Drinks". IM students presented the traditional customs of the tradition in Slovakia during the period of Advent and the Holy Days in English. ISW participants could also download information about Slovakia via a QR code.

Creative workshops captivated visitors by baking wafers, decorating gingerbread, and making Christmas ornaments, as well as tasting traditional bryndzové halušky and Christmas punch. The guests were undoubtedly pleased with the visit of Saint Nicolaus, the devil and the angel.

On the final day, they were divided into two groups according to their preferences. One group completed a trip by train to the city of Piešťany. Here, visitors completed a guided tour of the center of the picturesque spa town combined with a tasting of the thermal water. A small refreshment in the building of the Faculty of Health Sciences was followed by a presentation and a tour of the faculty's equipment - the library, classrooms for practical teaching of physiotherapy and the fitness center.

The program of the second group of participants was taken care of by the Faculty of Natural Sciences, which prepared a presentation of the virtual reality study at UCM Trnava, as well as the equipment of research laboratories in the premises of UCM Špačince.

The whole week took place at a high level under the leadership of the IRO team and selected representatives of the UCM faculties and institute. All participants had the opportunity to provide feedback to the organizers in the form of filling out satisfaction questionnaires. The evaluation of satisfaction, as well as the entire event, turned out to be excellent, and UCM can therefore enjoy an extremely positive response from the participants of the event.
