Engage in physiotherapy and radiological technique- attractive for high-end equipment in close contact with practice

Instruments, technology and practical training will prepare future health workers for reality as best as possible. Acquiring practical knowledge during studies helps the possibility to apply on the labor market.

One of the facilities at the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of St. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava (FZV) is an Anatomage. As the name suggests, it is mainly used for teaching anatomy. This life-size virtual dissection table has the most advanced 3D display system of the human body. Students can visualize the anatomy exactly as it would be in real life and see exactly the same things that they could only watch in the dissection room. The facility improves education not only in anatomy, but also in histology, physiology and radiology.

Modern equipment, which the graduates encounter in practice, is also present in the physiotherapy classroom. For example, the Biodex Balance system is a simple and effective device for testing and training balance. The Alfa device also works in a similar way, which is intended for training especially for neurological and orthopedic patients, for example after a stroke, suffering from muscle dysfunction and Parkinson's disease or after dislocating a hip or knee.

Spinal Mouse is also included in the teaching process. It is a technology comparable to an X-ray that can measure the curvature of the spine with a computer. During several physiotherapy procedures, students can try the Redcord system, which is part of the suspension exercise methodology. It serves not only for diagnosis and active therapy, but it can also be used in the training process.

In addition to advanced technology, practical teaching is mainly ensured by cooperation with leading medical, rehabilitation and spa facilities here and abroad, such as the Slovak Medical Spa in Piešťany, the National Institute of Rheumatic Diseases in Piešťany, the National Rehabilitation Center Kováčová, the University Hospital in Bratislava, the Faculty Hospital in Trnava, the Oncology Institute of St. . Elizabeth.

The majority of foreign partnerships were concluded by FZV in the Czech Republic, Poland, Italy and Croatia. Through the Erasmus+ program, students and graduates can gain practical experience in healthcare facilities throughout the European Union.
