Get involved in the hackathon and create a navigation system for UCM!

The hackathon is an activity where teams come up with comprehensive solutions to a predefined problem within a limited time frame. A new format at our university called "Unithon" aims to solve the issue of orientation for students and visitors within our campus.

The goal of Unithon is to come up with something innovative that can be subsequently implemented. The University of Ss. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava has multiple buildings within and outside the city. "In addition to orienting between different faculties and buildings, the competing teams during Unithon should also devise indoor navigation. The comprehensive UCM orientation system should be available in both Slovak and English," explains Kristína Kameníková from the UCM PR department.

When brainstorming, it is important to consider the placement of orientation system elements, the use of materials that align with the overall design of the spaces, and the precision of execution. The target audience for the new system includes students, staff, and visitors from Slovakia and abroad.

UCM students can register for Unithon in teams, ideally composed of 3 members. You can register your teams by emailing kristina.kamenikovajohn(zav.)doeucm.sk no later than May 26, 2023.

The hackathon will take place on June 2, 2023, at J. Herdu 2 (the exact room will be specified later). The winning team will receive an interesting project opportunity and a financial reward in the form of a motivational scholarship worth 600 euros for the team.
