Erasmus Student Network Slovakia (ESN Slovakia)

Erasmus Student Network is a non-profit student organization. It is an advisory body to the Slovak Association for International Cooperation.

Its main goal is to represent foreign students in Slovakia and thus provide opportunities to contribute to cultural understanding and personal development under the motto "students help students".

ESN Slovakia focuses on working in the interests of students who spend part of their studies at a university in Slovakia. It aims to create conditions for a better understanding of different cultures, from which it aims to help students not to regret the time spent at universities in Slovakia, and to have the best experience and experience from it.

Approximately 2,000 foreign students come to Slovakia every year. There are 10 sections of these students in Slovakia, from Bratislava to Košice. ESN Slovakia strives to make every student experience the best experiences of his life just on Erasmus. Tours, social, sports and cultural activities, parties, competitions, meetings and more are organized. ESN Slovakia closely cooperates not only with the Slovak Academic Association for International Cooperation (SAAIC), but also with individual universities in Slovakia and covers sections at the following universities.

Description of the Section:

We are new-established section and still improving our agenda. 

History of the Section:

The first idea of setting up a section was created by our former and very first president Martina Gabajová in November 2011 while she was on Erasmus Programme in Finland. Realisation of agenda started up in between December ´11 – January ´12 in cooperation with our Vice-Rector doc. Mgr. Martin Klus, PhD. and Coordinator of Mobility for Faculty of Social Sciencies UCM PhDr. Jaroslav Mihálik. As a candidate section we attended National Platform Bratislava 17.-19.2.2012. Our section has been officialy approved as a part of ESN Slovakia as ESN UCM Trnava. In February 2016 our section started to cooperate with another university - Trnava University. Therefore, we have considered it to be right to change our name, and in March 2016 we were approved to change our section name to ESN Trnava.

Description of the University of Ss. Cyril and Methodius: 

Established in 1997 University consists of 5 Faculties and 26 Study Programmes The aim of the University is to be a modern educational institution which provides enough space for students in phylosophical and artistic direction of studies and also tries to provide the latest knowledge in mathematical and technical field.

Something about the City:

The first written evidence dates from 1211. It has been written by  Archbishop John of Esztergom. Trnava was the first city in the territory of Slovakia, which had the privilege as a free royal city. Ugrian king Belo IV. gave the city in 1238 Prerogative of the crown directly subordinated to the city and define his rights that enable the rapid development of the city. The original agricultural center began gradually to change the center of production, trade and crafts.

In 1792 Anton Bernolák created in the main stand Trnava Slovenské učené tovarišstvo. The building of the theater Trnava townspeople built in 1831. In June 1846 was put into operation the first section of the horse railway in Uhorsko, which took from Bratislava to Trnava.

The rich history of left significant traces - many architectural monuments. Walk the historic center which is the urban conservation area provides an opportunity to familiarize themselves with remarkable architectural complex which are shaped for centuries. Almost regular plan town center is defined fortification. Visitors can explore the town tower, town hall, baroque complex of buildings, Trnava churches which are known mainly thanks to adjective given Trnava Little Rome. Since 1996 the county town of Trnava has almost 70,000 inhabitants. Pulses are rich social, cultural and sport life. In Trnava held many events that goes beyond the city limits.
