Faculty of massmedia communication has become part of an international fact-finding project, examining the impact of misinformation on society.
Its aim is to speed up and streamline the verification of facts using artificial intelligence, as well as to detect, investigate and reduce the spread of so-called information failures, including misinformation.

It also includes the establishment of the Central European Digital Media Observatory (CEDMO). Its establishment was supported by selected ministries and non-governmental organizations in the participating countries. The project brings together partners from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland and experts from France and Greece.
Important experts who are members of the Strategic Committee, the Project Board and, in particular, the International Multidisciplinary Advisory Body were also involved in the management. It consists of eleven respected personalities from the field of media, artificial intelligence, state administration and non-profit organizations. It is chaired by Jochen Spangenberg, Deputy Head of Research and Cooperation at the German public media Deutsche Welle.
Another important expert in the advisory body is Michal Pěchouček, the founder of the Center for Artificial Intelligence at CTU. France is represented by Sylvia Kauffmann, former editor-in-chief of Le Monde. Information security expert Tomáš Kriššák will offer experience from Slovakia. Polish experts include Jacek Žakowski, co-founder of Gazeta Wyborcza.
Continuous verification of facts will be provided by the French press agency AFP and the Czech independent fact-checking platform Demagog.cz.
FMK will focus on increasing media, information and digital literacy.
Researchers from partner universities will address the consequences of information gaps, led by misinformation, and engage in media literacy campaigns to educate teachers and journalists.
Within the project, FMK UCM provides various types of analytical and research activities, as well as activities in the field of increasing media, information and digital literacy of children, adolescents, and other target groups.
The CEDMO consortium, led by the Faculty of Social Sciences of Charles University in Prague, includes eight partners and four subcontractors. The project is co-financed by the European Commission through the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF). The main coordinator is PhDr. Vaclav Moravec, Ph.D.
