UCM became a permanent institutional member of the GLOBAL UNIVERSITY NETWORK FOR INNOVATION (GUNI).

UCM is now a part of the network of highly innovative members especially interested in the social commitment of higher education, which includes nearly 290 institutions from around the world, among them the UNESCO Chairs in Higher education , higher education institutions, research centers and networks related to higher education.

GUNi was created in 1999 after the first UNESCO World Conference on Higher Education held by UNESCO to follow up and facilitate the implementation of its main decisions. It is supported by UNESCO and the Catalan Association of Public Universities (ACUP), which hosts its secretariat and presidency since 2014. It is today one of the world leading think tanks on higher education policy and management.
GUNi is an international network that currently gathers 291 members from 87 countries, including higher education institutions, UNESCO Chairs and research centres.
It is also a reference institution in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs in higher education.    (source: https://www.guninetwork.org)
