Information seminar: Possibilities of Slovak-American academic and scientific cooperation

On March 29, 2023, at 10:30 a.m., the Information Seminar- Possibilities of Slovak-American Academic and Scientific Cooperation was held on the grounds of UCM.

The seminar was attended by representatives of the US Embassy, ​​the Fulbright Commission, SAIA and the Ministry of Investments, Regional Development and Informatization.

The invited guests had the opportunity to learn more about:

  • Scholarships, exchange programs and support mechanisms for cooperation with the USA

At the beginning, The vice-rector for Science and Research doc. Mgr. Ildikó Matušíková, PhD.

The main program of the seminar further consisted of:

The guests had the opportunity to learn how to work with the website, how to use it to search and find the offer of long-term academic and research partnerships between Slovak and American institutions in the field of joint research, publications, mobility and exchange of know-how.

  • MIT – Slovak Seed Fund – news and opportunities resulting from the agreement between the Ministry of Investments, Regional Development and Informatization of the Slovak Republic (MIRRI) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) with the aim of financing joint projects and research cooperation.
  • Fulbright Slovakia – overview of scholarships

Guests were presented with the possibilities of 4 types of supporting educational and cultural exchange programs between the USA and the Slovak Republic for PhDs. students, university teachers and scientific researchers.

  • SAIA – overview of scholarships/programs to the USA

The guests received an overview of the (NŠP) National Scholarship Program for the support of study, lecture, research/art stays at universities and research workplaces within the framework of cooperation between the Slovak Republic and the USA.

      Based on the individual presentations, the guests took away valuable information about the existence and possibilities of cooperation of individual institutions in the higher education and research space at home and abroad and could thus be inspired to participate in similar programs in the future.
