On Tuesday, February 22, 2022, the election of a candidate for the position of Rector of the University of Ss. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava (UCM) for the term of office 2022 – 2026 took place at a meeting of the Academic Senate of the UCM.

Based on the election results, prof. Mgr. Katarina Slobodová Nováková, PhD. was appointed to the position of rector of the University of Ss. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava.

Prof. Mgr. Katarina Slobodová Nováková, PhD. is a graduate of the University of Constantine the Philosopher in Nitra. She completed her doctoral studies at the Institute of Ethnology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences in Bratislava, and her habilitation at the Charles University in Nitra. She inaugurated in the field of historical science in 2021. She currently works as a professor at the Department of Ethnology and Non-European Studies, Faculty of Arts, UCM in Trnava, and holds the position of dean of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Ss. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava.

The new rector will replace prof. Ing. Roman Boča, DrSc., who has been the highest representative of UCM since 2018.
