A new competition combines esports with physical activity.

E- sports moves the world, and we move esports athletes - that is the motto of GSPORT, which aims to open the door to the sports environment for players and motivate them to move. Players can thus compete not only in the online world but also on sports fields.

The league, which brings together 5 Czech and 5 European universities, started on April 3rd. University teams compete against each other in esports games such as CS:GO and FIFA. The league will consist of an online qualification phase and an offline final.

In the first phase, all players are required to perform any sports activities during individual gaming weeks and record the burned calories through a designated application. In case of a draw in the gaming section, the winner will be decided based on the amount of burned calories.

The final part will take place both at the FTVS area in Vokovice, Prague and in Voděrádky, near Prague, at the Home of AV venue. The teams will compete against each other in small football and also test their skills on an obstacle course specially created for GSPORT.

The project is organized by the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports of Charles University in partnership with E4S Czech. GSPORT combines gaming and sports and is a novelty worldwide.

"We believe that GSPORT will provide students with the opportunity to maintain their health and fitness, even when they engage in their favorite online games. We believe that we are pioneers in this field and that GSPORT will become popular not only among students of our faculty and university but also worldwide," says Zdeněk Ledvina, head of the esports department at FTVS.

The entire league concept is created by FTVS together with other universities that are considered e-sports legends in the Czech university environment. These are the University of Hradec Králové, University of Pardubice, Jan Evangelista Purkyně University and VŠB - Technical University of Ostrava.

The foreign universities participating in the league are Staffordshire University (UK), University of Trento (Italy), Sport Sciences School of Rio Maior (Portugal), Kajaani University of Applied Sciences (Finland) and our home University of St. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava (Slovakia), whose students from the UCM TEDI Bears organization will represent the university's colors.
