UCM Engages in Another Horizon Europe Project

UCM has become a partner in the international project LOESS: Supporting Soil Health Literacy through an Operational Educational Ecosystem of Social Actors.

A key initiative of the project is the collaboration of various stakeholders and the creation of so-called "communities of practice." A total of 18 partner institutions from across Europe will contribute to identifying educational needs at all levels of schools and among the general public. The project partners will then develop courses and modules focused on soil education, utilizing mobile applications, virtual and/or augmented reality, in line with the goals of sustainable development and global challenges such as biodiversity loss and climate change. The project actively connects scientific, political, individual, local, and collective knowledge, respecting the specific knowledge systems in most European Union countries and selected countries associated with the Horizon Europe program.

To bridge the information gap in soil education, LOESS will organize targeted campaigns and events in collaboration with public authorities, policy makers, and educational institutions. It will also provide targeted recommendations and resources to enhance knowledge dissemination in these sectors and support targeted policy development.

In LOESS, we firmly believe in capacity building, knowledge exchange, and mutual learning. These elements will be integrated into all our educational and dissemination activities, enabling individuals and communities to become active participants in soil education. As part of this exciting initiative, UCM will contribute to comprehensive soil education for a sustainable future.
