Gender training: promoting a culture of tolerance and equality in the workplace
Published: 10.4. 2025
On 27-28 March 2025, UCM hosted a two-day gender training aimed at promoting a culture of tolerance, equal opportunities and mutual respect. In cooperation with the civic association Option of Choice, the event involved people in leadership positions, ombudspersons, as well as others who care about a fair and inclusive work environment.
Under the guidance of lecturers Mgr. Adriana Mesochoritisová and Mgr. Ivana Jančařík Klimentová, PhD., practical situations from everyday academic life, in which manifestations of unequal treatment often appear unconsciously, were reflected. The discussion focused on verbal and non-verbal forms of behaviour that can lead to discrimination or disadvantage of persons in the work environment.
Emphasis was placed on real model situations - how to recognise microaggressions, how to respond to inappropriate remarks during meetings or how to deal effectively and fairly with moments of conflict. The training also offered tools for eliminating prejudices and stereotypes in teams, preventing harassment, reducing the pay gap and promoting work-life balance.
There were also inspiring examples of good practice, an overview of legislative frameworks and a space for open exchange of experiences. Attendees left with a clearer view of how to create a more equal, respectful and motivating working environment.
Thank you to everyone who participated - together we are working to strengthen the culture of respect and equality at UCM.
