Practice physiotherapy or radiology techniques with state-of-the-art equipment in close contact with the practice

Instruments, technology and hands-on training will prepare future paramedics for reality in the best possible way. They will help them to acquire practical knowledge already during their studies and thus wide application.

One of the facilities at the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of St. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava (FZV) is Anatomage. As the name says, it is mainly used for teaching anatomy. This life-size virtual dissection table has the most advanced system of 3D imaging of the human body. Students can visualize anatomy exactly as it would be real, and see exactly the same things they could only see in the dissection room until now. The facility enhances education not only in anatomy, but also in histology, physiology and radiology.

Modern equipment, which the graduates will also encounter in practice, is also available in the physiotherapy classroom. For example, the Biodex Balance system is a simple and effective device for testing and practicing balance. Similarly, the Alpha machine, which is also designed for training especially for neurological and orthopaedic patients, for example after a stroke, dislocated hip or knee, suffering from muscle dysfunction or Parkinson's disease.

Spinal Mouse is not missing in the teaching process. This is a technology comparable to an X-ray that can measure the curvature of the spine by computer. For more physiotherapy procedures, students can try out the Redcord system, falling under the methodology of hanging exercises. It is not only used for diagnosis and active therapy, but can also be used in the training process.

In addition to advanced techniques, practical training is provided mainly by cooperation with leading medical, rehabilitation and spa facilities in the Czech Republic and abroad, such as the Slovak Medical Spa Piešt'any, the National Institute of Rheumatic Diseases Piešt'any, the National Rehabilitation Centre Kováčová, the University Hospital Bratislava, the University Hospital Trnava, the Oncological Institute of St. Elizabeth. The largest number of foreign partnerships has been concluded in the Czech Republic, Poland, Italy and Croatia. Through the Erasmus+ programme, both students and graduates can gain practical experience in healthcare institutions throughout the European Union.
