Young students discovered the world of science at UCM and TRUNI
At the Children’s University, young learners discovered that education can be playful, engaging, and truly inspiring.
For five days, from 30 June to 4 July 2025, the university premises were transformed into a place of curiosity, discovery and the joy of learning for dozens of children who experienced first-hand what it means to be a university student. The organisers from the University of Trnava believe that many of the children will one day return to the classrooms as real students – and perhaps even as future scientists or scholars.
The ceremonial start
The first day took place at the University of Trnava, where students were welcomed at the Faculty of Arts and the Faculty of Health and Social Work. The children officially entered student life with a matriculation ceremony.
Later, they got to know the work of an archaeologist and a historian and delved into the world of biology and medicine. They uncovered the mystery of DNA in strawberries, explored life under the microscope, learned the basics of first aid and health care, and discovered the workings of the human body.

Tuesday belonged to activities at the Faculty of Natural Sciences of UCM in Trnava. In the laboratories, children experimented with plants without water, solved chemical mysteries, discovered starch in food, created rainbows from solutions or performed creative tasks within the LEGO mission. In the afternoon, they became virtual adventurers and experienced the world of science from a digital perspective.
Journey to the stars
On Wednesday, the participants went to the observatory in Hlohovec, where a day full of space experiences awaited them. During the Astrolympics, they tested their knowledge and team spirit. In the afternoon, a visit to the planetarium and sky watching awakened the children's enthusiasm for astronomy.

Chemical experiments, shifts and law
On Thursday, the University of Trnava welcomed children again, this time at the Faculty of Education. In the morning, the children tried out fun chemical and ecological experiments, such as slime making, water hardness recognition and recycling in practice. There were also interesting activities focused on communication in sign language, intercultural understanding and foreign languages.
The afternoon belonged to the Faculty of Law. The children played a legal memory game, took part in a mock trial and solved a legal escape game where they had to combine logical thinking with teamwork.
Speech and graduation ceremony
The final day was filled with creativity and farewells. At the Faculty of Arts of UCM, children wrote in Glagolitic with a goose quill and created a collective poem together. Then they went to the streets of Trnava, where in the form of a game they discovered epigraphic monuments and solved historical ciphers in the city centre.
In the afternoon, everyone gathered for the final graduation rehearsal, which culminated in the graduation ceremony. Graduates and alumnae took away a diploma, a memento and, above all, an unforgettable experience.
