Embark on a journey of experimentation and new technologies at UCM's SmartLab
The UCM Faculty of Natural Sciences in Trnava invites you to interactive events during Learning Week, where you can not only see science in action but also try it out for yourself.
At the UCM & Trnava SmartLab located at Hlavná 5 in Trnava, you’ll find activities in the fields of natural sciences and computer science, opportunities to meet students and experts, and space for questions and discussion. The program is designed for children, young people, and adults. Learning Week is an annual initiative organized by Učiaca sa Trnava, which brings together education, the community, and different generations of the city’s residents over the course of one week.
Event Schedule
On Monday, October 12, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., you’ll get to know SmartLab UCM & Trnava—a space where education meets practice and student ideas are transformed into real projects, products, and solutions.
You’ll learn how SmartLab supports teamwork, the development of student ideas, and the creation of projects for the city, the region, and other partners. You’ll also discover how the knowledge gained during your studies can be used to design new solutions and develop practical skills.
Natural Sciences Are Fun
The afternoon of October 12, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., will be dedicated to exploring the natural sciences and computer science through interactive activities.
One of these is an activity called “Traveler in the Land of Chemistry.” At three stations, visitors will try out interesting experiments and uncover some of the secrets of chemical reactions. You’ll see that chemistry can be playful, hands-on, and full of surprises.
You’ll also learn what lies hidden in a world invisible to the naked eye. Under the microscope, you’ll get a glimpse into the lives of tiny organisms. The activity will also feature a 3D model of one such organism and other microscopic organisms. You’ll be able to test your knowledge with a science memory game or by assembling protein puzzles.
Attention will also be given to plants and their ability to absorb, transport, and store elements from the soil. You’ll learn why this topic is important from the perspective of food security.
Secret Messages and Artificial Intelligence
Computer science will reveal its more adventurous side. You’ll discover CipherLab, get a glimpse into the world of neural networks, and, through hands-on demonstrations, learn how selected modern technologies work.
The program will also include a workshop titled “While You’re Arguing with and Testing AI, Others Are Already Done: 3 Habits to Put into Practice.” Using specific examples, participants will learn how to ensure that an AI correctly analyzes a task before work even begins. They’ll discover why a long conversation with AI gradually loses quality, when it’s better to start over, and how to verify the result instead of blindly trusting an automatically generated summary.
The workshop is intended for anyone who uses artificial intelligence tools. Its third part may be particularly useful for programmers, but you can follow along even without technical knowledge.
SmartLab Talks
The exploration of technologies continues on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. SmartLab Talks will feature a session dedicated to technologies, innovations, interesting ideas, and open discussion.
Come get inspired, ask questions, and join the conversation with people who are interested in modern technologies and their practical applications.
