How do you study abroad? Newton University in Brno

Marcel Kopčan, a first-year student in the European Studies and Politics program at the Faculty of Social Sciences, completed a mobility in the Czech Republic, where he attended the Mastering Critical Thinking program.

Marcel speaks enthusiastically about his experience. "Erasmus is a good opportunity to meet new people for free, learn something and enjoy some free time with friends," he says of why he decided to go.

The study itself brought him a lot of new knowledge and inspiration. "I gained a lot of new knowledge in the field of critical thinking, but I also discovered new ways of studying and learned about the psychological factors of learning," he explains. In addition to the educational aspect, the mobility also brought him personal development: "I made new contacts, improved my foreign language and got the opportunity to apply the knowledge in my working life."

Newton University is worth a try, according to Marcel: "It's a really nice environment situated in the centre of Brno. The school is in English, so the foreign language development is spot on. The very nice teachers are a plus, but most of all the beautiful city environment and nightlife opportunities."

The best experiences are associated with the social life of the university. "There are a lot of them, but the best one was probably the joint barbecue that the university organised. They also organised a boat trip as well, that was great too. But the whole mobility was the best experience in itself."

On the other hand, I was pleasantly surprised by pretty much everything. I wasn't prepared for how amazing it was going to be." He mentions the bureaucracy before the trip as the only small downside, but adds that compared to everything mobility has brought him, it was only a minor inconvenience.
