Published: 10.3. 2025

You are invited to a lecture by Ľubomír Kucka, PhD, entitled Intellectual Property in Academic and Research Environments, which will take place on 14 March 2025 at 13.00 via MS Teams.

This lecture is intended for anyone who wants to learn about the basics of intellectual property in academic and research environments. It will focus on the importance of IP protection, its main categories (patents, copyrights, trademarks, industrial designs and trade secrets) and their application in the context of scientific and research activities.

We will explain how to properly handle research results, what to look out for when publishing scientific articles, what are the possibilities of commercialising inventions and what role does licensing or technology transfer play. The lecture will also offer practical examples from current practice and highlight the ethical and legal aspects of intellectual property protection.

Finally, there will be space for discussion and questions to check how to effectively protect your research outputs and collaborate with the university or external partners in protecting and exploiting their intellectual property.
