The University of St. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava together with the University of Trnava in Trnava have launched a new Counselling and Legal Centre for students from socially disadvantaged backgrounds and students with specific needs. The Centre was established within the framework of the Consortium of Trnava Universities with the aim of systematically supporting students in various areas of their academic and personal life.
The first event of the Centre was a lecture entitled "Financial literacy: the reality of the young", which took place on 12 March 2026 at UCM. The event was led by financial education and social economy expert Martina Šarvaicová, founder of the Academy of Financial Education.
The lecture offered students a practical insight into how finance works today. She addressed not only current economic challenges, but also specific situations, from managing finances to first experiences with entrepreneurship. Attendees also learned about the most common financial mistakes and risks faced by young people in the country.
The creation of the centre represents an important step towards strengthening student support within the Trnava university environment. According to the statute of the centre, its activities will include not only counselling for students with specific needs, but also career, psychological and spiritual counselling. The aim is to create a comprehensive support system that will respond to the diverse needs of students and contribute to their successful studies and personal development.
The first event thus symbolically opened a series of activities that the Centre intends to contribute to improving the quality of life of students and their readiness for the challenges of the present in the long term.
