The Rector of the University of Ss. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava (UCM), Prof. Katarína Slobodová Nováková, and the Rector of Trnava University in Trnava (TRUNI), Prof. Miloš Lichner, today signed the first agreements on joint study programmes.

The agreements set out the conditions for cooperation in the admission process and teaching, as well as arrangements for material, spatial, and administrative support.

The agreements cover three completely new study programmes: Ecosystem Sciences and Environmental Change, Advertising and Consumer Psychology, and Tourist Guiding, which have been created as part of the consortium of the two Trnava universities.

These are professionally oriented bachelor’s programmes, offered in both full-time and part-time form, with a duration of three years. They are designed to prepare graduates directly for professional practice. The study plan reflects this aim, including a one-semester professional internship.

“These study programmes are a direct response to the needs of society. They address the climate crisis and the demand for experts in environmental management, combine psychological and media knowledge that is crucial in the era of digital marketing, and contribute to the development of tourism and the promotion of cultural heritage – which is particularly important for the Trnava region,” said the Rector of UCM, Prof. Katarína Slobodová Nováková.

“The cooperation is being developed on the basis of an equal partnership between the two universities, with an emphasis on sharing capacities, expertise, and laboratories. In this way, students gain access to the infrastructure and services of both institutions, which enhances the quality of education as well as the overall student experience,” concluded the Rector of TRUNI, Prof. Miloš Lichner.

Teaching will also involve cooperation between the individual faculties of both universities, specifically:

  • The Faculty of Natural Sciences of UCM and the Faculty of Education of TRUNI will jointly deliver the bachelor’s programme Ecosystem Sciences and Environmental Change in full-time form, and the programme Ecosystem Science and Environmental Changes in part-time form.

  • The Faculty of Mass Media Communication of UCM and the Faculty of Arts of TRUNI will cooperate in implementing the bachelor’s programmes Advertising and Consumer Psychology in both full-time and part-time form.

  • The Faculty of Arts at UCM and the Faculty of Arts at TRUNI will jointly deliver the bachelor’s programmes Tourist Guiding in full-time and part-time form.

The creation of these joint study programmes is part of the UCM and TRUNI consortium, which has joined the project of the Ministry of Education, Research, Development and Youth of the Slovak Republic supporting the strategic development of higher education infrastructure. This project also covers the purchase and reconstruction of university buildings. Through this call of the Ministry, the universities have received more than €22 million.

As part of the consortium, a total of six new study programmes will be created.
