The UCM Doctoral School has launched Design Thinking workshops with Adam Brock
Participants will learn the principles of creative and innovative thinking.
The introductory workshop, “Design Thinking 101,” presented the basic principles and processes of Design Thinking. The second session, titled “Empathy—Why Do We Need More Brands That Listen?”, focused on the importance of empathy and the ability to understand people’s needs when seeking new solutions.
The workshops are part of a broader series that offers doctoral students the opportunity to develop skills applicable not only to scientific and academic work but also to solving practical problems and creating innovative solutions.
The series will continue in the coming months
The first two sessions, held on September 17 and 18, are just the beginning. The UCM Doctoral School plans to continue the Design Thinking series with three more workshops.
In November, the topic will be critical thinking in the innovation process, with the question, “What problems are worth solving?” In January 2027, participants will then focus on creativity and where original ideas and functional solutions are born, and the series will conclude with a workshop dedicated to prototyping, exploring the question of why ideas need structure to survive.
Design Thinking thus creates a space at UCM for connecting creativity, empathy, critical thinking, and the practical search for solutions. The next workshops in the series are scheduled for November 13, 2026, January 14, 2027, and January 15, 2027.
