Theater, Music, and Sports: Engage Fully in Student Life at UCM

University life doesn’t have to mean just lectures and seminars. UCM offers a wide variety of student organizations where you can explore your passions and talents throughout the academic year

 

UCM THE.ART.RE

"Shakespeare is a master, but we do theater differently." This slogan captures the essence of UCM’s student theater troupe, THE.ART.RE. Founded in 2010, the troupe started at the UCM premises in Jama before moving to a self-renovated space on Námestie J. Herdu, complete with stage, lighting, and sound. THE.ART.RE has performed works by renowned authors and regularly fills venues like the Ján Palárik Theater in Trnava and the Karol Spišák Theater in Nitra. They participate in festivals such as KasiopeaFest, the Summer Theater Festival in Košice, and the Senica Theater Fever. Open to students of all faculties, THE.ART.RE offers opportunities in acting, technical work, costume design, makeup, photography, and scriptwriting.

 

 

University Folklore Ensemble TRNAFČAN

Trnafčan’s roots in Slovak folklore date back to 1984, even before UCM’s establishment. Since joining UCM in 2010, the ensemble has represented both the university and the Trnava region at festivals across Slovakia and internationally in countries such as Italy, Greece, and Mexico. Trnafčan’s repertoire celebrates the cultural heritage of the Trnava region and includes folk dance, music, and songs from various Slovak regions. Each year, the ensemble welcomes new students passionate about folklore to join their ranks.

 

 

HIT UCM Trnava

HIT UCM Trnava’s women’s volleyball team ranks among UCM’s most successful sports clubs. Formed in 2012, they rose to Slovakia’s top league in 2016 without a single loss. Last season, they secured a historic third place in the extraliga, and they aim to finish in the top four this season. UCM provides substantial support, covering housing, offering athletic scholarships, and allowing free use of the gym in Jama.

 

 

Atteliér Student Magazine

Since its founding in 2003, Atteliér has become Slovakia’s most successful student magazine, confirmed annually at the national Štúrovo Pero competition in Zvolen. The magazine covers university life, societal issues, culture, and media. *Atteliér* offers students hands-on experience in journalism, from article writing to producing Atteliér podcasts. Many former *Atteliér* contributors have gone on to successful careers in media, including former editor-in-chief Juraj Koník, now head of reporters at Denník N. *Atteliér* also received a nomination for the Czechoslovak Public Award at the 2022 Journalism Awards.

 

 

Parazol – FF UCM Student Magazine

Parazol, an initiative of the Faculty of Arts students, launched during UCM’s 15th-anniversary celebration in 2012/2013. The magazine covers topics such as Trnava’s history, arts, travel, and student life at UCM and beyond. It offers space for inspiring interviews, book and film reviews, and original student writing and photography.

 

 

UCM TEDI BEARS

IIf you love gaming and want to compete at a high level, UCM TEDI Bears represents UCM in e-sports tournaments, including titles like CS:GO, League of Legends, Rocket League, and Valorant. The team trains at the  Red Bull Gaming Hube, a new space at FMK on Skladová Street. With a growing list of Czech-Slovak university tournaments, TEDI Bears is looking for new talent to join their ranks.

 

 

Radio AETTER

 Since its founding in 2011, student radio AETTER has grown to become Slovakia’s first student radio station with its own frequency. Broadcasting 24/7 on 107.2 FM in Trnava, AETTER combines popular music with original shows, live segments, and news. Many alumni have found success in media, making AETTER an excellent stepping stone for aspiring radio personalities. 

 

 

Televízia FMK TV

UCM’s student television station, FMK TV, also started in 2011. With a fully equipped HD studio, FMK TV produces news and lifestyle content for young audiences. Over the years, FMK TV has created over 820 audiovisual pieces, amassing more than 850,000 views on YouTube. For students interested in television, FMK TV provides opportunities in hosting, reporting, camerawork, production, and editing.
