UCM has established partnerships with other universities in Europe, the U.S., and Latin America
Representatives from UCM’s International Relations Department once again attended EAIE 2026 in Glasgow this year. This is one of the most significant European events in the field of higher education internationalization.
This year’s EAIE also reflected a shift in UCM’s internationalization strategy. “While in previous years we focused primarily on expanding Erasmus+ mobility programs, new destinations, and opportunities for students, this year we have placed greater emphasis on academics, research, science, and joint international projects. At the same time, we are continuing to build a network of high-quality partners for Erasmus+ KA171 and overseas mobility programs, for which interest at UCM is growing,” says Nikoleta Vanková from UCM’s Office of International Relations.
Highlights included negotiations with U.S. partners—Case Western Reserve University, the University of Alabama, Clark University, and the University of Minnesota—as well as the development of contacts in Costa Rica and Brazil. In Europe, we held discussions with universities from Scotland, Norway, Italy, Greece, Spain, Turkey, Poland, and Croatia.
Several meetings have already moved beyond networking to concrete plans. “We’ve opened up opportunities with our partners for research and academic exchanges, joint projects, a summer school, International Week, BIP mobility programs, and collaboration under Erasmus+ KA220,” adds Vanková.
EAIE 2026 thus represents another step forward for UCM—from internationalization based primarily on mobility to broader strategic partnerships connecting students, academics, research, and international projects.
