UCM Received a Grant for International Mobility in the Amount of 368,000 Euros
The approved project under the Erasmus+ KA171 scheme will provide UCM with new opportunities for international cooperation and mobility with universities outside the countries participating in the Erasmus+ program.
For UCM, securing this grant represents a significant achievement in terms of the university’s continued internationalization. KA171 mobility projects support long-term partnerships between higher education institutions, the exchange of experiences and best practices, and ensure the improvement of the quality of higher education.
UCM will collaborate with eight regions around the world. The project opens opportunities for collaboration with higher education institutions and other partner organizations across a wide range of geographic regions—from Europe and the Middle East through Asia and Africa to the Pacific and North America. The financial support is distributed among specific partner countries as follows:
- Western Balkans – 98,147 euros – Albania and Montenegro
- Eastern Neighborhood – 91,071 euros – Armenia, Georgia, and Ukraine
- Southern Mediterranean – 97,810 euros – Egypt, Israel, and Jordan
- Asia – 12,606 euros – Cambodia and Nepal
- Middle East – 7,954 euros – Oman
- Pacific – 17,445 euros – Fiji and Papua New Guinea
- Sub-Saharan Africa – 32,540 euros – Kenya and Tanzania
- United States and Canada – 10,645 euros – United States
KA171 is not merely a financial tool to support individual study abroad programs. Its goal is to build and deepen international partnerships that can create new opportunities.
New Opportunities for Everyone
Approval of the project will enable UCM to develop international mobility even in countries that are not part of the standard Erasmus+ program area. Doctoral students can thus gain experience studying in a different academic and cultural environment, while university staff can use these mobility programs to establish professional contacts, exchange experiences, and develop cooperation with partner institutions.
At the same time, international credit mobility strengthens the university’s position in the global academic community and lays the groundwork for further joint activities with partner universities.
What is Erasmus+ KA171?
Action KA171—International Credit Mobility—is part of the Erasmus+ program and supports mobility between countries participating in the program and partner countries outside of it. It is a continuation of the original International Credit Mobility (ICM) scheme, which operated under the designation KA107 during the previous programming period.
Unlike traditional mobility under KA131, KA171 is funded from resources earmarked to support the European Union’s external policy. Projects are therefore subject to a selection process, and funding is allocated according to specific regions of the world.
