UCM was part of the international Staff Week at the Sorbonne Nouvelle University
The presence of UCM at this event confirmed our active presence in the European academic space.
Discussions focused on current challenges: mobility within the Erasmus+ programme, building strategic partnerships or creating an inclusive environment that reflects the diversity of today's society.
Exchange of experiences
"For us, participation in Staff Week was not only about presenting the university, but mainly about finding new ways to connect our academic environment with the European space even better," says Martina Bleščáková, Vice-Dean for Quality of the UCM Faculty of Physical Education and Health Sciences Martina Bleščáková.
As she emphasises, the expert discussions also brought concrete impulses for further development:
"Topics such as quality assurance, internationalisation or support for mobility cannot be seen in isolation today. It is their interconnection that creates the prerequisites for modern and competitive higher education."
The interdisciplinary perspective of the host university itself was also an important enrichment. The Université Sorbonne Nouvelle is an institution firmly rooted in fields such as the arts, languages, literary sciences, and the humanities and social sciences, where theory and practice are naturally intertwined and where interdisciplinarity is not a trend but a core value.
"It is in such an environment that the importance of cultural sensitivity, the ability to work with context and openness to different perspectives is fully demonstrated. These are key prerequisites for quality international cooperation," adds Bleščáková.
Paris as a city of the Academy
Paris itself gave the whole event a unique atmosphere. The city, where tradition meets innovation, created an ideal framework for discussions on the future of education.
"As an academic and cultural space, Paris naturally underlines that education is not a closed system, but a living process that transcends disciplinary and national boundaries," says the Vice-Dean.
Participation in Staff Week also confirmed that UCM is a confident and respected partner at the international level. The new contacts and the experience gained provide a solid foundation for the further development of the university and its growing international outreach.
"We perceive the experience gained and the partnerships established as an important impulse for further development of the quality of education at our university," concludes Bleščáková.
