We have succeeded in the new cross-border project BRIE
Published: on 3.6.2025
UCM has joined the new international project BRIE - Building Regional Innovation Ecosystems, whose first official working meeting took place on 15 May 2025 in Nickelsdorf, Austria. The project is funded by the Interreg VIA SK-AT programme and its main objective is to support innovative solutions in public administration in the Slovak-Austrian border region.
Focus of the BRIE project
The project is implemented in accordance with the specific objective 4.1 of the Interreg programme, which aims at increasing the efficiency of public administration and places particular emphasis on removing barriers to cooperation in border regions.
Main activities of the BRIE project
The project focuses on three key dimensions of innovation in public administration:
- Digital Twin for public administration
A digital twin is a digital model of a real object, process or system that is continuously updated based on real data. In public administration, it enables more efficient planning, management and decision-making - for example in transport management, infrastructure maintenance or environmental protection. Within the BRIE project, we plan to develop and test a prototype digital twin that will enable more efficient planning, management and decision-making at the level of regional government. - Cross-border Innovation Lab
A platform for co-designing solutions where experts, local governments and civil society will work together to create innovative responses to local challenges. - Companions for the digitisation of municipalities
Creation of a consultancy service for municipalities to help them develop digital strategies and implement modern technologies in their daily practice. - Energy accounting for municipalities
Developing a best practice guide for energy accounting to help municipalities manage energy more efficiently and contribute to sustainability.
International partnership
Partners from Austria and Slovakia are working together on the project.
Slovak partners:
- University of St. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava (UCM) - main Slovak cross-border partner
