We will show the wonders of science and the beauty of Trnava's neighbourhoods at the Trnava Market Square

The University of Sts. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava will take part in the popular city event again this year. On Saturday, 17 May, the Faculty of Natural Sciences and the Faculty of Philosophy will present their activities on Kapitulska Street, introducing visitors to interesting scientific projects and research related to Trnava.

Wonders of biotechnology under the microscope

The stand of the Faculty of Natural Sciences will offer visitors a glimpse into the fascinating world of microorganisms and biotechnology. The project entitled "Miracles of Biotechnology: Microorganisms, Enzymes and Bioplastics" will show how even the smallest life forms can contribute to solving big problems.

Visitors will be able to see micro-organisms under a microscope, learn about the process of growing plants in laboratory conditions (in vitro) or find out more about the production and use of bioplastics and enzymes that help clean up the environment.

Trnava districts through the eyes of ethnologists

The UCM Faculty of Arts will be represented at Trnava Market by the Department of Ethnology and Non-European Studies. The team led by Associate Professor Martina Bocánová and Professor Katarína Slobodová Nováková together with PhD students will prepare a programme dedicated to the urban districts of Trnava.

Visitors will learn more about the history of Kopanka and Vozovka - two important parts of the city. The presentation will include an exhibition of banners with the results of the research, the presentation of the published book Kopánka - the history of the urban district and the forthcoming publication on Vozovka.

There will also be an interactive quiz "Do you know Trnava?", which has two variants - for children and adults. The cleverest ones will win small prizes.

Trnava morning is a city market that gives space to local brands and products, civic associations, volunteers and important social topics. In addition to more than a hundred stalls, the organisers from Bronco, o. z., have prepared a rich cultural programme for young and old.
In case of bad weather, the event will not take place.
