Sustainable development goals

Cyril and Methodius University is committed to contributing to the achievement of global development goals through innovative research, education, and community engagement. It fulfills its mission as a research university through extensive project activities in several scientific fields, focusing on practical applications with a positive impact on society.

In an effort to concentrate its capacities and increase the effectiveness of its research, UCM has evaluated the direction of its projects in terms of their relevance to the so-called sustainable development goals. A total of 17 goals (Sustainable Developmental Goals, SDG) were formulated by world leaders at the historic UN summit in 2015 with the aim of contributing to the solution of global challenges such as climate change, poverty, and inequality. Following the example of many universities around the world, UCM has identified the development goals that are most reflected in its projects and research activities.

A total of seven goals (namely SDGs 3, 4, 8, 9, 12, 16, and 17) will be gradually incorporated into the strategic direction of research at UCM over the next two years, creating a framework for generating synergies between faculties and presenting the university's social impact.
