Education in the study program respects the standards of the European Federation of Psychological Associations (EFPA) for the education and training of future psychologists and is compatible with the education of psychologists in EU member countries. The aim of education in the study program is to prepare a graduate who, at the time of completion of the bachelor's degree, possesses the knowledge and skills enabling investigation, prognostic evaluation of the behavior of a person or a group of people using selected psychological methods, techniques and procedures, corresponding to the current knowledge of psychological sciences and the state of practice. He orients himself in various subdisciplines of psychology and some related scientific disciplines. He has a basic education in all psychological specializations, main topics and techniques in psychology as a scientific field. It has the foundations for acquiring primary psychological skills and prerequisites for conducting research in psychology.
Main learning outcomes:
In order to achieve learning outcomes corresponding to the relevant level of the Qualification Framework in the European Higher Education Area, the content and objectives of the study program are in accordance with the standards of the European Federation of Psychological Associations (EFPA) and are achieved through measurable learning outcomes in individual parts (modules, subjects).
Knowledge:
A graduate of the 1st degree in the field of Psychology has knowledge in the field of general orientation in the field, which is focused on history, current events in the field and an overview of psychological specialties. The core of knowledge is focused on basic knowledge from theoretical (basic and special disciplines) and applied psychological disciplines, which are primarily aimed at knowing the individual (or psychological aspects of his behavior and experience within small social groups). The student can reproduce basic psychological theories, define past and present trends, concepts and theories in psychology, basic psychological processes and can explain their influence by emotions, classify scientific methods of psychological research, explain the positives, negatives, adequacy of the use of research techniques in relation to the given context , describe the principles of creating psychodiagnostic methodologies and tests, define methods of statistical data analysis, characterize software suitable for psychological research and describe the principles and assumptions of scientific design and research in psychology. Furthermore, he has knowledge in the field of psychological diagnostics, including psychometrics and methodology (basics of quantitative and qualitative approach in psychological research). In addition to the aforementioned, the graduate possesses basic knowledge from other selected areas of humanities, social and behavioral sciences and knowledge of ethical principles in the performance of psychological and research activities, as well as the ability to apply these principles.
Skills:
A graduate of the field of Psychology (1st degree) has skills in the area of using psychological methods, e.g. conducting interviews, focus groups and observation, has mastered the basic principles of diagnosis and evaluation in basic specialties (clinical psychology, pedagogical psychology, school psychology, counseling psychology, work and organizational psychology). The graduate is able to propose the design of a simple research plan (including an experiment) and implement it, which mainly includes skills in the field of data collection and their subsequent quantitative or qualitative analysis. The graduate is also able to navigate current professional resources and search for relevant literature in the field, interpret study results, write professional texts and present assigned tasks, goals and results to the work team. He knows how to carry out individual diagnosis, create, apply and analyze diagnostic scales, create, implement, monitor and evaluate a research project, formulate conclusions and propose them for specific situations, search for and use psychological methods and procedures in practice, as well as communicate professionally in a world language.
Competencies:
The graduate is characterized by independence in solving specific problems in a changing environment, planning his own education, autonomy and responsibility when making decisions in relation to the problems of the given field of study, the ability to appropriately and professionally present his own opinions, creative and flexible thinking. In his bachelor's thesis, he applies the acquired competence for the implementation of research using quantitative and qualitative procedures.
The graduate is characterized by independence in solving theoretical and practical problems in wider contexts. When presenting his own opinion in a professional manner, he can effectively use the argumentative strategies of individual thinkers, independently and critically evaluate arguments. He expresses his opinion in a cultured way in a language (oral and written) professional speech. He can take positions on individual and social problems and make decisions in the context of knowledge of value perspectives. He responsibly decides on the moral, social, legal and economic contexts of the department.
In addition to the aforementioned knowledge and skills related to preparation for the profession of psychologist, the graduate also acquires several transferable competencies - e.g. communication skills, mathematical skills, organizational skills, digital skills, critical thinking, time-management, work under management, group work, search and critical selection of information, empathy, self-control, initiative, flexibility, precision, etc.
Graduates of studies in the study field of psychology have the opportunity to apply (in some cases only after obtaining the necessary certificate related to the specialized study or certified activity) in various positions, such as :
- assistant
- worker under professional supervision/supervision
- independent worker, especially in the field of: health and social care - counseling psychologist, clinical psychologist, psychotherapist, forensic psychologist, psychologist in the field of social counseling;
- education and training - educational psychologist, school psychologist, career counselor;
- organizations and work - work psychologist, specialist in human resources
- other areas such as police forces, military, transport, sports, communication, marketing, science and research.

Note
When registering the application electronically:
- the applicant is obliged to save the application uploaded in AIS (electronic application) (the status of the application "registered" is not sufficient,
- we recommend using the electronic student book. Applicants who will graduate in the academic year 2024, submit a list of grades for the 1st to 3rd year (4-year study), or for the 2nd to 4th year (5-year study). The report card from the last year and the matriculation certificate must be delivered additionally by post to the study department.
- in case the applicant does not have the possibility to use the electronic student book, it is necessary to send certified copies of the documents by post to the study department,
in the attachment of the electronic application, the applicant uploads a CV and confirmation of payment of the fee for the admission procedure. - the applicant, who graduated before 2024, will deliver to the Study Department (in person or by post) certified copies of the report cards for the 1st to 4th year (4-year study), or for the 2nd to 5th year (5-year study) together with the school leaving certificate.
When applying in writing:
- the application along with all mandatory attachments must be sent by mail to the address: Study Department FF UCM, Nám. J. Herdu 2, 917 01 Trnava, or hand it in at the post office,
- applicants who graduate in the academic year 2024 send the report card from the last year of study and the matriculation certificate additionally by mail.

Documentation of education obtained outside the territory of the Slovak Republic.
The applicant is obliged to submit a decision on the recognition of a document on education obtained outside the territory of the Slovak Republic no later than the day of registration.

Information for international applicants to download
For the study of all study programs - including the study of foreign languages - knowledge of the Slovak language is required. Foreign students who do not have a high school diploma in the Slovak language or a university diploma from a Slovak university must take a language exam.
This condition does not apply to students with Czech citizenship.
It is necessary to register for the language exam in the online form no later than August 20, 2024.
Владение словацким языком требуется для всех учебных программ – включая иностранные языки. Для иностранных студентов, которые не подтверждают свой аттестат зрелости по словацкому языку или университетский диплом словацкого университета, сдача экзамена по словацкому языку является обязательной.
Это условие не распространяется на студентов с чешским гражданством.
