Teaching students in the study program mass media communication in the bachelor's degree focuses on the acquisition and development of independent professional thinking in the intentions of the key areas of the field of study media and communication studies, which serve as a basis for mastering theoretical and practical knowledge and skills. The graduate gets an overview of the latest knowledge, concepts, problems and trends in the field of media and communication studies with a special focus on mass media communication. On the basis of analysis, he can formulate a problem and, with the help of practical skills, proactively searches for a way to solve it. He masters a simple form of research in the field of mass media communication. He applies the acquired knowledge, methods, methodological knowledge and creative skills in the processes of creating a bachelor's thesis and in the framework of related scientific activities - analysis and synthesis of knowledge, realization of empirical research or application output, search for solutions and formulation of recommendations intended for practice.
The graduate acquires a wide range of theoretical knowledge in the field of theory and history of media communication, history of journalism, media theory, media discourse, psychology and sociology of communication, theory of journalistic genres, language culture, media system, marketing and management, multi-platform journalism, media research methodology and production of media communications, as well as other supporting areas of mass media communication. He also masters the basics of related social science and humanities disciplines, such as economics, law, ethics and aesthetics. Within the framework of media informatics, he gains a wider awareness of the technical side of media communication. Thanks to a wide range of practically oriented mandatory optional and optional subjects, the student acquires practical skills and acquires skills and competences that will enable him to work actively and creatively in various media sectors at lower and middle management levels. He also gains practical experience in the creation of textual, visual, auditory and audiovisual communications intended for publication in various media formats, through a wide range of communication platforms (print, radio, television, internet and digital media). The graduate is able to apply in media institutions and other entities where such procedures and processes are practically used, or can work creatively, organizationally and administratively in all media institutions and in departments that require experts in various types and forms of communication.
a) Theoretical knowledge
A graduate of the bachelor's degree in the mass media communication study program can use the information obtained from theoretically focused subjects to analyze phenomena and generalize knowledge. Demonstrates relevant knowledge of the theory and history of communication, history of journalism, psychology and sociology of communication, media theory, language culture, multi-platform journalism, journalistic genres, media research, production of media communications and their social, cultural, economic and creative contexts in the system of mandatory and mandatory optional subjects. Acquires an overview of the basics of constitutional, copyright and media law and is able to apply the knowledge to the field of mass media communication. He can communicate in foreign languages and master the basics of language culture. Based on theoretical knowledge in the field of mass media communication and individual research spheres, the graduate can identify, analyze and synthesize problems present in the agenda of media companies and communication-oriented organizational components in the commercial and non-commercial sphere and participate in their solutions.
b) Practical abilities and skills
Graduate of the bachelor's degree of the mass media communication study program:
- manages work in various positions in the field of preparation, production, post-production and distribution of media communications, media contents and products, including their digital forms,
master the basics of audiovisual production, - masters the authorial creation of journalistic, marketing and multimedia communications,
- master the basics of working with the camera, sound and editing, as well as with specialized software used in the creation, production and post-production of media content and available graphic tools,
- master the basics of creating photographic outputs,
- knows the basics of non-verbal communication and can creatively present media contents and interpret them,
- master the principles of creating textual, auditory and audiovisual communications in their individual genre forms on various platforms, which reflect the current needs of media practice and the development tendencies of communication,
- acquires the communication style and language necessary for working in the media,
- master the basic procedures and methods of media research and work with qualitative and quantitative data,
- he knows the creative processes of online journalism and the principles of multi-platform content publishing,
- knows the possibilities and principles of communication on social media,
- knows how to work effectively as an organizer or team member and can plan and organize a small or medium-sized event.
c) Complementary knowledge, abilities and skills
Graduate of the bachelor's degree of the mass media communication study program:
- has skills in the form of adaptability to current media platforms and trends,
- can work effectively as an organizer or team member,
- can present to the public knowledge about the principles of media communication and transfer them into practice,
- can autonomously and purposefully organize their own application in media institutions and other socially significant entities,
- has developed organizational and presentation skills,
- can find solutions to problems associated with media practice in creative ways,
- is able to apply current legal and ethical standards in the field of mass media communication and report on them.
