A graduate of the 1st degree course in physiotherapy is a qualified university health worker with a broad professional profile. He/she is ready to independently perform activities requiring professional erudition, independence in work, in decision-making, personal responsibility in physiotherapy and medical rehabilitation, in prevention, in primary, secondary, tertiary and quaternary and subsequent health care.
He is professionally qualified to perform professional activities independently in the diagnosis of functional disorders and the diagnosis of the locomotion system in physiotherapy. It performs physiotherapeutic examination and kinesiological examination of the neuromuscular system, cardiovascular system, respiratory system, electrodiagnostics, occupational, psychosocial, educational and preventive physiotherapy examinations. Assesses and determines the needs of physiotherapy and rehabilitation care. It plans physiotherapy care and reintegration of the person into the natural environment. Determines and performs physiotherapeutic procedures aimed at preventing the occurrence of immobilization syndrome. It uses assessment scales and rating scales in physiotherapy and rehabilitation care. It assesses the physiological functions of a person to the extent necessary for the provision of physiotherapy care.
He masters the basic therapeutic procedures and methodologies in physiotherapy. Educates the individual, family, and community about physical therapy care with an emphasis on self-sufficiency and restoration of health. It educates about postural lifestyle, regimen measures, the use of compensatory aids, rehabilitation aids and devices, including the possibility of further physiotherapy care and rehabilitation care.
He controls the indications and contraindications of physiotherapy procedures, methods, physical therapy, electrotherapy and balneology. He performs kinesiotherapy procedures and methods such as: soft and mobilization techniques, postisometric relaxation techniques, reciprocal inhibition, facilitation-inhibition techniques, basic physiotherapeutic methodologies, methodologies and programs affecting movement control mechanisms at all levels. It also controls mechanical stimuli such as reflex therapy, reflex massage, lymphatic drainage, traction techniques, hydrotherapy, phototherapy, effects of electrotherapy, magnetotherapy, laser therapy, shock wave, superinduction. He has insight into the law and legislative field. Is ready to independently perform activities requiring professional erudition, independence in work, in decision-making, personal responsibility in physiotherapy, primary, secondary and follow-up health care, preventive, diagnostic, therapeutic, counseling and educational activities.
In the field of education, he is ready to participate in the education and training of physiotherapists to perform the health profession. He can carry out teaching activities at the relevant levels of education in the field. The graduate has practical skills and methodological knowledge of the key field of physiotherapy at the synthesis level, which serve as a basis for practice and research. He is able and authorized to independently perform the range of activities in the profession, which are given by the chosen completed study program.
The graduate has prerequisites for further university, specialized and continuous education. Preparation for the performance of the profession is carried out according to the relevant European and national legal standards.
Theoretical knowledge:

- knows the morphology and physiology of the individual systems of the human body with an emphasis on the movement and support apparatus and the understanding of the human organism as a dynamic and adaptable whole
- has basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathophysiological manifestations, disease processes and conditions in the human organism
- has basic knowledge of hygiene, prevention and health statistics • through the acquired knowledge, understands the unity of the organism and the environment in health and disease, the importance of preventive measures in the sense of protection and promotion of health
- has basic knowledge of pharmacology about the effect of drugs
- master the theoretical principles of nursing technique with the subsequent ability to use theoretical knowledge in physiotherapy, master the theoretical principles and principles of first aid in accidents, life-threatening situations and mass events
- has basic knowledge of facts, concepts, relationships, contexts and principles of pedagogy, psychology and sociology
- master the theoretical foundations and methods of effective communication in professional activity
- master the basic principles of medical ethics
- has theoretical foundations in kinesiology and pathokinesiology
- controls the diagnosis and therapy of functional disorders of the locomotor system
- master the basic range of knowledge, data and diagnostic methods of the locomotion system, which are a prerequisite for prevention, correct diagnosis, effective therapy and evaluation of the process in physiotherapy and medical rehabilitation
- master the basic knowledge of kinesiotherapy in general and according to the specific condition, nature of the disease, disability in individual clinical departments and in individual age categories
master the basic range of knowledge about the physical nature of balneological and electrotherapeutic procedures, their physiological effects and events taking place in the body with a focus on prevention, diagnosis and therapy - master the basic range of theoretical knowledge from reconditioning-relaxation exercises, their use and physiological effects, with the subsequent ability to use them in kinesiotherapy
- controls the indications and contraindications of physiotherapy procedures, methods, physical therapy, electrotherapy, balneology, hydrokinesiotherapy, hydrotherapy and massages
- has theoretical knowledge regarding conditioning
- has an overview of proper nutritional nutrition
- has basic knowledge of informatics focused mainly on the professional activity of a physiotherapist and the basics of research in physiotherapy
- he knows medical terminology at a level that will enable him to orientate and learn professional professional terminology
- he knows a foreign language at a level that will enable him to navigate in foreign professional literature and professional communication
- has knowledge and experience in biomedical and humanitarian (preclinical and clinical) subjects

- comprehensively controls the description, analysis, evaluation of kinesiological conclusions and is able to use them in kinesiotherapy
- master the basic range of individual methods, techniques and procedures for functional diagnostics of the movement system and the locomotion system as well as internal systems with the subsequent ability to evaluate them and draw conclusions for the creation of physiotherapy procedures
- master the basic range of methods, techniques and procedures used in kinesiotherapy in individual clinical fields according to the condition and character of the disease, disability and health handicap in individual age categories
- practically controls the basic indications, contraindications and application of physical therapy procedures
- practically controls the indications, contraindications and application of individual types of mechanotherapy and manual techniques
- practically controls the indications, contraindications and application of movement therapy and physiotherapy methods in physiotherapy procedures
- practically controls consultancy in the field of physiotherapy, the basics of methods, forms and means of education in health education and appropriate postural lifestyle
- he practically controls consultancy in the field of ergonomics
- knows professional effective communication and behavior, is capable of empathy and assertive behavior in relation to patients, clients
- master basic nursing techniques, patient safety, which apply to patient care, their use in physiotherapy
- knows qualified first aid for accidents, life-threatening conditions and mass events
- master the basics of working with information technologies in professional activities
- has practical skills and methodological knowledge of the key field of physiotherapy at the level of analysis and synthesis, which serve as a basis for practice and research
- he practically has physical fitness and masters conditioning

- knows the structure of health care in Slovakia
- can apply acquired knowledge in the field of health law, psychology and ethics in a professional approach to patients and co-workers
- is able to actively participate in the creation and protection of a healthy living and working environment
- controls the organization of his work, work and cooperation in the healthcare team, communication and the transfer of professional information in the team
- knows and communicates in at least one foreign language, is able to study foreign literature, knows how to work with a computer.
Graduates will perform highly professional activities within the scope of preventive, diagnostic and curative care in inpatient and outpatient facilities, spa treatment facilities, specialist treatment and rehabilitation institutes and other facilities that provide preventive and curative health care, or health protection and support. It can also be used in sports and recreational facilities.
Graduates can also find employment in international organizations such as:
- World Physiotherapy (WP),
- European Region of World Physiotherapy (ERWP),
- international organizations in professional societies,
- patient organizations and professional organizations
- and in European Union organizations.
The primary employment of graduates should be within a healthcare facility (hospital), but also in undergraduate and postgraduate educational institutions. Graduates carry out their highly professional activities within the framework of preventive, diagnostic, physiotherapeutic and curative care in medical and spa facilities, in social care institutions, in rehabilitation institutions, in sanatoriums, in home nursing care agencies, in workplaces focusing on movement therapy, physical therapy and complex physiotherapy, as well as modern recreational and preventive wellness / fitness facilities, which are increasingly sought after nowadays.
In addition, they can also find their application in educational facilities for health-disadvantaged children and youth, in retraining facilities for health-disadvantaged citizens. They can also work in social organizations whose purpose is the resocialization of health-impaired citizens.
An important area of application for graduates of the field of physiotherapy are entities of the third sector, such as civic associations and foundations. In addition, graduates are able to keep in touch with modern developments and lines in their discipline and continue their own professional advancement.

Conditions for Admission to the First Degree:
- Completion of secondary school without restrictions
- Completion of the final exam (maturita)
- Successful completion of the entrance exam
