Public Administration Isn’t Boring
Your public administration studies are led by experts in the field. In addition, we’ll involve you in useful projects, you’ll experience interesting discussions on current topics, and you’ll also have the opportunity to travel abroad. This degree program carefully integrates various areas related to public administration and provides students with a comprehensive set of knowledge and practical skills.
As part of your studies, in addition to required courses, you can also choose electives that will be useful in your future career. For example, you can choose management, marketing, and communication in public administration, political marketing, and other attractive fields, which are taught not only by distinguished academics but also by professionals with real-world experience.
Manage Change, Communicate with Confidence
How can you effectively manage public institutions, implement strategies, and communicate with the public? You’ll find the answers in the Management and Marketing in Public Administration program. We’ll prepare you to solve problems innovatively and use information and communication technologies to increase the efficiency of public services.
In addition to theory, you’ll also delve into the real-world challenges faced by public organizations. During your studies, you can gain valuable experience through internships at state and local government offices, nonprofit organizations, or EU institutions. This will give you the practical experience you need to prepare for a professional career in the dynamic public administration sector.
Europe needs leaders—prepare for this through European studies
In the European Studies and Politics program, you’ll learn how society, politics, EU institutions, and international relations function. You’ll also learn to think critically, work analytically, and approach problem-solving creatively. You’ll become an expert in specific policy areas not only within Slovakia but also across the EU.
You’ll gain an understanding of politics not only through theory but, above all, through practical experience. You can complete internships at national and supranational institutions, state and local government agencies, or at partner universities abroad (in Portugal, Spain, Germany, Finland, Lithuania, and others).
Social Work – For Those Who Want to Help Others
If you’re drawn to topics in social care—such as palliative care or missionary and charitable work—the Social Work and Social Policy program is perfect for you. It’s ideal for anyone who cares about the well-being of others and who, through their knowledge and experience—both during and after their studies—can help those in need.
We offer a unique blend of theory and practice, so you can experience firsthand what it’s like to help others. We’ll also help you secure an internship at government ministries or the Social Insurance Agency, and you can study at many universities abroad.

Not interested in politics? Study European Public Administration
Do you want to become an expert on politics in European institutions? Or are you interested in advisory or analytical roles at nonprofit organizations? We’d like to introduce you to our career-oriented European Public Administration program, where you’ll learn how European Union institutions function effectively. You’ll also learn how policies that shape people’s lives are created and how to manage the public sector in a dynamic European environment.
You’ll combine theoretical knowledge with practical experience, which will enable you to understand the complex processes of decision-making, legislation, and administration at the European level. You can apply the knowledge you gain in various fields, ranging from public administration to European and international institutions. What’s more, during your studies, you’ll have the opportunity to gain valuable experience through internships at renowned European organizations.
Develop human potential, improve society
If you want to become a community worker or are more interested in social rehabilitation, choose the Human Development in Social Work program. You’ll learn how to work effectively with diverse groups of people, how to identify and address social issues, and how to provide support to those who need it most.
You’ll develop your communication, empathy, and critical thinking skills, which are essential when working with people at different stages of life. You’ll gain both theoretical and practical knowledge of social work in various contexts and learn how the social system operates in our country. We’ll enrich your studies with internships at social institutions, nonprofit organizations, and in the public and private sectors, where you’ll participate in real-world projects aimed at helping and supporting human development. Become a professional who can change lives and contribute to a better society.
We Support Our Students
The UCM Faculty of Social Sciences (FSV) strives to offer students not only a high-quality education but also practical experience and new perspectives on the functioning of public institutions and politics abroad. That is why our students have the opportunity to participate in educational field trips during their studies; recently, we have visited Bratislava, Prague, Budapest, and Warsaw together, and soon we will also travel to Brussels and Strasbourg.
The Faculty of Social Sciences truly strives to keep up with the times, resulting in a wealth of interesting events and innovative solutions. Your studies will be complemented by a vibrant campus life. We organize various events, such as the increasingly popular UNI-Quiz, soccer and volleyball tournaments for the FSV Dean’s Cup, Open House, and Student Days featuring competitions, guided tours of Trnava, and interesting workshops.
We also have the university’s first student ombudsman, whom FSV UCM students can turn to for help resolving administrative issues related to their studies at the faculty.
We have also established various centers, one of which is the Center for Participation and Communication, which organizes the participatory competition “No City Is Like Another” and aims to operate at the national level as well. Other significant centers include the FSV UCM Crisis Management Center and the Research Center for Social Isolation and Social Development.
