On May 10, 2016, a regulation came into force on the awarding of the Ján Sambucus Plaque, the most prestigious award given by the university rector, which is linked to an important historical figure who was born in Trnava.

The plaque is awarded not only to prominent figures from the field of education and scientific research at the University of St. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava, but also to prominent figures who visit the University of St. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava on various occasions.
