Erasmus+ general information

The new Erasmus+ programme 2021-2027

The new Erasmus+ programme will promote four horizontal priorities in projects:

  • Inclusion,
  • digitisation,
  • sustainable development and
  • active participation.

It aims to contribute to the introduction of new practices improving the quality and relevance of education, training and youth systems at national, regional and local level. The good news is the significant increase in the budget of the new Erasmus+ programme. This has doubled for the 2021-2027 programming period, amounting to EUR 28.4 billion, which represents an opportunity to implement part of study and traineeships abroad, apprenticeships or staff exchanges in all areas of education and many other activities.

Higher education

In the renewed EU Higher Education Programme, the programme will focus on four key areas: the relevance of skills for the modern economy; building inclusive higher education systems; the active contribution of universities to innovation in the economy and society; and supporting universities in fulfilling the potential of available human and financial resources. The programme thus gives students and staff of higher education institutions the opportunity to improve their skills and broaden their employment opportunities after graduation. For universities and their knowledge ecosystem, the programme will provide an opportunity for an effective and innovative collaborative set-up.
