FREJM 26 Festival of Student Creation will be transformed into a living laboratory of contemporary visual culture
The eighth edition of the Film and Games Festival will bring a dynamic interplay between the games industry, film, and the discussion of digital resilience. It will also raise important questions about how artificial intelligence is changing the way we both create and perceive images.
Already on Monday 27 April 2026 , the Little Berlin Cultural Centre will become the place where student creativity meets professional practice. This time, the festival has an ambitious goal: not only to present the best work by young creatives, but also to critically reflect on the current challenges of the digital era.
Perspectives on game development
The morning will be dedicated to the games industry. The programme will kick off at 9.00 with a lecture by Polish developer Agnieszka Kravar from One More Level studio, who will give a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of world-class game titles. She will translate her experience from the environment of renowned companies such as CD PROJEKT RED or Techland into a look at the development of games for Xbox and PS5 platforms.
Her presentation will be followed by a panel discussion led by Mgr. Tomas Farkas, PhD. Experts from practice and academia - Tatiana Zacharovská (Bored Monkey), Juraj Baksy (Games Farm), Lucie Formánková (Herdek Collective) and prof. Juraj Malíček (Charles University in Nitra) - will address the topics of social responsibility of games, their therapeutic potential and ethical dilemmas that shape the gamedev scene today.
ATTENTION: The capacity of the gaming block is limited to about 100 seats. Registration - GAME BLOCK
The gaming block will include a digital games competition section. Visitors can look forward to annotated gameplays of the best student projects, which will be evaluated by an expert jury consisting of representatives of Pixel Federation, Mad Cookies and Bartos Studio. For the authors it means not only feedback, but also a chance to win interesting prizes.
Innovations in film and VFX
The afternoon programme will shift the focus to film and audiovisual production. Director Martin Smatana will explain how stop-motion animation is created in the digital age, while Roman Gregorička from SpyGER ARTS Studio will reveal the technical background of visual effects and CGI in film and games.
The festival will culminate with a discussion on artificial intelligence in visual culture, led by director Ladislav Halama. The debate will focus on the search for a balance between technological possibilities and critical thinking at a time when the image can be as much a tool of creation as manipulation.
ATTENTION: The capacity of the film block is limited to approximately 100 seats. Registration - FILM BLOCK
There will also be competitive film screenings, presenting a selection of the best student films from the BA and MA programmes from 15.10. Popcorn will add to the cinema atmosphere and the evening will culminate in an awards ceremony.
Throughout the day there will also be an accompanying programme - a gaming zone with student titles, presentations of design, advertising and animation work, as well as a film quiz for all those who want to test their knowledge.
FREJM 26 confirms once again that young creativity has something to say - not only about itself, but also about the world that shapes it.
The event is realized with the support of the projects:
