From AI games to circular economy. UCM will present itself at the Learning Trnava festival
Artificial intelligence, personalized computer games, circular economy or interactive informatics. Such activities were also prepared by the University of St. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava for visitors to the Učiaca sa Trnava festival, which will take place on June 17 and 18 in the city center.
How can artificial intelligence create a computer game? What can micro:bit do or what does education about the circular economy look like in practice? The answers will be offered by activities prepared by individual faculties of our university. The center of Trnava will be transformed into a space full of discovery, creativity and experiential learning for the sixth time, and UCM will once again be part of the largest city educational festival.
FMK will bring language activities, AI games and video production
The Faculty of Mass Media Communication will participate in the festival through the Department of Language Communication in cooperation with doctoral candidates and students of the faculty. The stand will offer creative activities connecting the English language, the Slovak language and the world of media.
Five-minute game jams will also be interesting. Interested parties will be able to describe their own idea of a game, which will then be created by artificial intelligence. Visitors will be able to try out the personalized game directly on site. The activities are intended primarily for primary and secondary school students, but seniors or those interested in studying at UCM can also stop by.
The Department of Digital Games will also contribute to the accompanying program of the festival. On Wednesday, June 17 at 5:00 p.m., Ján Proner will lead the workshop The Secrets of Successful Videos Revealed (Postproduction of Audiovisual Works) in Malý Berlin. He will introduce participants to the basics of creating and post-producing audiovisual content and show how videos that can captivate an audience are created. Proner is professionally dedicated to video creation, motion design and animation, and in his work he combines creativity, visual storytelling and modern digital marketing.
FSV to present a project on the circular economy
The Faculty of Social Sciences will present the results of the international Erasmus+ CIRCLES project, which is dedicated to the circular economy and sustainable development. The program will start on June 17 with a professional conference The Future is Circular in Malý Berlin.
The conference program will focus on the topics of education for the 21st century, gamification, community projects and the future of the circular economy in the European Union. The following day, experts will also present the project on Trojičné námestie through the CIRCLES interactive zone, workshops and the Circular Hero competition.
Informatics in a playful way
The Faculty of Natural Sciences is preparing interactive activities in the field of applied informatics and modern digital technologies. Visitors will be able to try out demonstrations that will present informatics as a creative, practically usable and entertaining field. There will also be an unconventional mouth-controlled piano, on which visitors will try out how a computer can react to human movement and turn it into a specific action. This demonstration will present image processing technologies and human-computer interaction in a fun and easy-to-understand way.
The program will also include an activity focused on artificial intelligence, where visitors will be able to create a simple website using their own idea and a suitably entered prompt. We will show how AI can help in the creation of digital content and why it is important to be able to correctly explain to technology what we expect from it.
Finally, visitors will be transported to the world of 3D graphics and animation in Blender, where their name, the name of the created world or character can fly, break or move in an effective visual processing. The activity will show that computer graphics, animations and digital effects are also an important and creative part of computer science.
There will also be a small challenge for visitors for the most interesting prompt, in which they can show their imagination, creativity and ability to communicate well with artificial intelligence. The most original ideas can be rewarded with a small surprise. The aim of the activities is to present computer science as a practical, fun and creative field that connects technology, artificial intelligence, music, graphics and their own ideas into one digital experience.
Faculty of Philosophy to Introduce Languages and Cultural Heritage
The Faculty of Philosophy has prepared activities that will introduce visitors to language, writing and cultural heritage in a playful way. Those interested will be able to try out a language memory game in the English-Slovak version, through which they will practice their vocabulary, check their knowledge of basic expressions and learn new words. The activity is intended for different age categories and shows that learning a foreign language can be natural, fun and interactive.
The second activity will be dedicated to the Glagolitic script and the legacy of Saints Cyril and Methodius. Visitors will be able to write their name using a quill pen and ink according to the Glagolitic script and try out the writing method that was used centuries ago. The activity will also commemorate the legacy of the Thessaloniki brothers Cyril and Methodius, who significantly contributed to the development of education, writing and culture in the Slavic environment.
