How to survive in the age of digital transformation? Experts discuss the jobs of the future

Mass Media Communication students were given a unique opportunity to understand how media skills, modern technology and business intersect today.

The world of media and journalism is undergoing radical changes as a result of digital transformation. How to respond and succeed? Answers were offered by the discussion forum "Interdisciplinarity in the context of the digital transformation of education". The aim was to show young talents a world in which strict boundaries between disciplines no longer apply.

Five experts spoke

Five eminent personalities accepted the invitation to join the discussion, each bringing a different perspective to the topic - from labour market analysis, to the impact of artificial intelligence, to creative innovation in the digital space. The panel featured Monika Viskupič, a psychologist and coach who connects the worlds of innovation, schools and regions within KIRA projects.

Martin Hrabovec, founder of Revolware and an expert in interactive education and digital experience, also spoke. The third panellist was Maroš Žofčin - a technology journalist who focuses on the impact of artificial intelligence on society. The debate was also joined by HR leader from PwC, expert in strategic change management and implementation of AI tools Tibor Černák. The five were rounded out by Adrián Potančok, an experienced media manager and head of digital who has shaped several major Slovak editorial offices.

One goal: A successful career

The whole event was guided by moderators Professor Norbert Vrabec from FMK UCM and Master Martin Karlík from the UCM Knowledge and Technology Transfer Centre. "Our task is to prepare the upcoming generation for professions that may not even exist today. In the media space, this is doubly true. The digital transformation is not just about machines and codes, but mainly about the ability to adapt and connect knowledge across industries," emphasised Professor Vrabec.

The event took place on 15 April at the Oko Cinema. It brought an inspiring dialogue on how to maintain humanity in an era of technology dominance and a changing media world, and how to turn incoming challenges into successful career stories.

The panel discussion was conducted as part of the StradDigiEdu project - Strategies to promote critical thinking and digital literacy in the context of digital transformation of education. This project was funded by the European Union under the NextGenerationEU mechanism through the Recovery and Resilience Plan of the Slovak Republic (under Project No. 09103-03-V04-00370).
