Invitation to a lecture from the series I Want to Know More: From Manuscript to Algorithm: Copyright in the 21st Century

Publikované: dňa 18.11.2025

We invite you to a lecture by Assoc. JUDr. PhDr. Martin Solík, PhD., entitled From Manuscript to Algorithm: Copyright in the 21st Century, which will take place on November 21, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. via MS Teams.

Copyright is one of the fundamental pillars of the protection of creative activity – from scientific articles and dissertations, through employee works, to music, audiovisual projects and digital content. Despite its importance, it is often overlooked or simplified. The seminar will focus on what is considered a work of authorship and what rights an author has in various forms of creation. We will also discuss how to properly work with the works of other authors, what types of licenses exist, how to approach co-authorship and what rules apply when using music, audiovisual and digital content. We will also touch on current issues related to the digital environment and generative artificial intelligence – where are the boundaries of inspiration, what constitutes unauthorized use and how to avoid conflicts when publishing and presenting one's own work. The aim of the meeting is to offer understandable and practical guidance on how to protect one's own work, respect the rights of other authors and build a reputation as an academic who consistently works with intellectual property.

Doc. JUDr. PhDr. Martin Solík, PhD., is the editor-in-chief of the scientific journal Communication Today, which is indexed in Web of Science and Scopus. He is a member of the Academic Senate of the University of St. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava (UCM) and the Academic Senate of the Faculty of Mass Media Communication of UCM.
