Published:18.12.2025

On December 11, 2025, the university symbolically concluded another successful project year. The final presentation of university projects gave researchers the opportunity to present the results of several months of intensive work and show how their ideas and research are advancing the university.

The event was attended by the Vice-Rector for Science and Research at UCM, prof. Mgr. Ildikó Matušíková, PhD., together with representatives of all parts of the university. Their presence confirmed that project activities are among the long-term priorities of the university management and are of university-wide importance.

The projects presented were interesting not only for their professional level, but also for the diversity of their topics. From modern technologies, through social sciences and humanities, to environmental and economic issues – each project brought a specific benefit to the university environment, community, or cooperating organizations. The researchers did not only talk about the results, but also about their practical impact and possibilities for further use.

After the presentations, Prof. Matušíková highlighted the high quality of the outputs and emphasized that this year's edition clearly shows the importance of university projects for the development of scientific research, as well as for building the practical skills of doctoral students and young researchers.

Award-winning projects and their creators

The Vice-Rector for Science and Research, together with the management of individual faculties, selected the three most successful projects from among all those submitted, which stood out for their originality, quality of workmanship, and contribution to the university environment. Their researchers will also receive financial rewards in recognition of their exceptional work.

  • 1st place: Mgr. Vanessa Gelanová – full-time doctoral student, Faculty of Natural Sciences, UCM

  • 2nd place: Mgr. Ľubica Janáčková, PhD. – assistant professor, Faculty of Mass Media Communication, UCM

  • 3rd place: Mgr. Ľubomíra Jurečková – full-time doctoral student, Faculty of Natural Sciences, UCM

Based on mutual agreement, the university management decided to award special financial recognition from the funds of the UCM Doctoral Academy to:

  • Mgr. Mária Giertlová from the Faculty of Arts at UCM

  • Mgr. Matej Majerský from the Faculty of Mass Media Communication at UCM

Their projects attracted attention not only with their engaging presentations, but also with their strong content, emphasis on cooperation, and interconnection of several areas of the university environment. All research teams deserve thanks for their dedication, professionalism, and high-level representation of the university.
