Students from the Faculty of Natural Sciences have created an app for Trnava Clubhouses

Martin Záhorák and Ivan Borec, as sophomores in the Applied Computer Science program, have already created a useful app based on the requirements of a client and industry partner.

These partners were GenT, a municipal non-profit organization focused on youth work, and Trnava Clubhouses. The latter provide young people with a space to meet, spend their free time, develop their interests, and get involved in community activities. They worked on the project as part of SmartLab UCM & Trnava.

While developing the app, the students first investigated how the clubhouses operate and what their team needed. Based on this, they designed a solution, which they continuously consulted with GenT and adjusted according to the feedback received. They thus went through several phases of software development, from requirements analysis and design through programming to consultations with future users.

The project gave Martin and Ivan the opportunity to apply the knowledge they gained during their studies to a specific assignment. In addition to the technical work, they also gained experience communicating with the client, processing their suggestions, and finding a solution suitable for the organization’s day-to-day operations.

“What we particularly appreciate about our collaboration with students from the Faculty of Business and Management at UCM in Trnava is their interest in understanding how Trnava Clubhouses operate and what we need in our day-to-day work. They communicated with us throughout the process and incorporated our suggestions into the app’s design. The result is a solution that has the potential to make the work of the clubhouse teams easier and provide a better overview of their activities. We’re also pleased that the students were able to apply their knowledge to a project benefiting other young people. “This experience provides a solid foundation for our continued collaboration with the faculty and SmartLab UCM & Trnava,” said Lukáš Hrošovský, director of GenT.

The app for Trnava Clubhouses is an example of the projects developed at SmartLab UCM & Trnava. SmartLab creates a space for students to collaborate with organizations, local government, and other partners. As a result, students work on projects with practical applications, and partners can rely on the students’ expertise and ideas to address their needs.
