Department of Science and Research

Creative work (scientific, research, development, and artistic activities) is one of the fundamental job responsibilities of university faculty members serving as professors, associate professors, assistant professors, teaching assistants, and research staff. Creative work is carried out in accordance with the principles of academic freedom, research ethics, and scientific integrity. Determining the focus and organizing research, development, artistic, or other creative activities falls within the autonomous authority of the faculties and institutes. The Department of Science and Research provides the administrative and organizational framework for carrying out activities related to creative work at UCM.

The Science and Research Department is primarily responsible for the following tasks:

  • systemic tasks related to the comprehensive management and coordination of UCM’s leadership in the areas of scientific, research, and artistic activities;
  • tasks related to the appointment of professors (full and associate);
  • tasks related to organizing the awarding of honorary doctorates;
  • advisory and consulting services to support the professional development of staff;
  • preparing materials for meetings of the UCM Scientific Council;
  • organizing and providing administrative support for the UCM Scientific Council;
  • analyzing and evaluating documentation on science and research at UCM;
  • monitors and analyzes current legislation regarding science funding;
  • monitoring and maintaining databases of scientific grant projects at UCM;
  • preparing the budget for science and research;
  • ensures the administrative and organizational operation of the UCM Research Support Fund (FPPV UCM);
  • compiles statistical data for grant reports;
  • prepares materials for university leadership for periodic evaluations of research, development, artistic, and other creative activities, as well as other types of evaluations;
  • carries out activities related to the co-organization, support, promotion, and information campaigns for conferences and scientific events at UCM;
  • coordinates the promotion of doctoral students’ research results;
  • coordinates services and activities to support science and research at UCM;
  • performs other related tasks and activities.
