FMK visit to Myongji University in South Korea
Representatives of the Faculty of Mass Media Communication UCM in Trnava completed a working visit to Myongji University, one of the leading private universities in South Korea, where they discussed the possibilities of expanding international cooperation and new opportunities for students from both universities.
Myongji University: a private university in the heart of Seoul
Myongji University was founded in 1948 and today is one of the established universities in South Korea. More than 20,000 students study at the two campuses in Seoul and Yongin. The university offers studies within 13 faculties, covering a wide range of fields from humanities and social sciences, law and international studies, through business administration and engineering, natural sciences or hotel and tourism. In addition, it has postgraduate programs and a language institute for foreign students as well.
During the visit, FMK representatives had the opportunity to get to know the university campus and its facilities for students. The program included a tour of several parts of the university, including the relaxation zone, its own shop and a modern canteen. The visit also included the multi-storey university library, which is one of the important centers of study and academic life at the university.
The negotiations opened up new opportunities for cooperation
An important part of the visit was working meetings with the Department of International Relations of Myongji University. In the negotiations, they focused mainly on the possibilities of deepening cooperation in the field of creating new opportunities for students, including potential student exchanges, semester mobility, or the potential development of programs leading to the acquisition of double diplomas in the future. The discussion also touched on possible future cooperation in the field of research and projects.
Summer school in Seoul – a new opportunity for FMK UCM students
One of the first results of the visit is an agreement to sign a bilateral contract, which will allow FMK students to complete a two-week study stay in Seoul. At the same time, the representatives of the partner university expressed interest in participating in the summer school in Slovakia at UCM.
Each of the selected students will receive financial support to cover the costs associated with mobility. "We would like to continue what we started with Japan last year, and once again provided scholarships for two students, but this time to attend the summer school in Seoul," informs FMK dean Ľudmila Čábyová. Such a stay will make it possible during next year's summer vacation to get to know the peculiarities of South Korean culture, as well as their university environment, and to participate in various educational activities with domestic and other foreign students.
