Let's remember together the year 2025, which was full of successes

We bring you an overview of the most important moments that shaped the academic year at UCM and inspired its community to further develop.

New study programs

In 2025, the university expanded its offer of study programs that reflect current trends and labor market requirements. Completely new programs focused on, for example, management and marketing in public administration, digital design, applied analytical chemistry, European public administration, or social work were opened - which provide students with innovative and practically oriented education.

The university has also prepared unique joint study programs with the University of Trnava (TRUNI), which build on interdisciplinary connections. Among them are bachelor's professionally oriented programs such as Ecosystem Sciences and Environmental Changes, Advertising and Consumer Psychology, or Tourist Guide. These programs are designed to provide students with practical skills and readiness for practice in various fields.

The university recorded a record interest in bachelor's studies in the 2025/2026 academic year, which confirms the growing attractiveness of its educational programs.

Important research projects

The university launched a major research project WATCH – Society in the Mirror of Water, which brings a new impetus to interdisciplinary research. The project focuses on reflecting social changes and trends through different perspectives, with an emphasis on the quality and excellence of research.

In 2025, a project was implemented to build a Simulation Training Center, which will provide realistic conditions for training the skills of physiotherapy and radiological technology students. The center is intended to significantly increase the quality of practical training for future healthcare professionals.

The university launched a new project to support gender equality in the African region, which can be considered an international initiative with a profound social impact. The project is intended to strengthen gender equality and provide tools to improve the position of women in these areas.

Investments in infrastructure

The year 2025 was also marked for UCM by strategic investments in the reconstruction of buildings and the purchase of new ones. These investments represent the largest modernization in the history of UCM and the university's entry into a new era of infrastructure development.

Reconstruction and modernization of the space on Bučianská

Street - will significantly improve the study and teaching environment.

Building on Herda - modernization of spaces for teaching and academic activities.

Piešťany - purchase of a building and renovation of the premises, which expands the spatial capabilities of the university.

Hajdóczyho - purchase with the aim of building a new academic or research space.

Successes of our students

Creatives from the Cabinet of Creativity (FMK) won gold in Brussels with a campaign project on responsible drinking.

Student from FZV Eszter Panyiková, excels on the international fitness scene, winning world titles and medals.

Physiotherapy student Roman Hrčka became the vice world champion in karate.

The UCM TEDI Bears Indigo team defended the title of university champion of Slovakia in Counter-Strike 2 for the eighth time.

Prestigious awards for educators and colleagues

Professor Roman Boča received the Literary Fund Award for Lifetime Achievement, confirming his long-standing work and contribution to science.

Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Associate Professor Mariana Sirotová, was awarded the Silver Medal of the Saint Gorazd Awards, a significant recognition for the field of higher education.

Professor Lenovský received the prestigious Ondrej Štefanka Award for the development of Slovak literature.

Professor René Lužica was awarded the Roma Spirit Award for the preservation of Roma culture.

Educators of the FPV UCM also came to the attention of the American Forbes thanks to a study on deepfake detection tools.
