Published: on 9.6.2025

The main objective of the project, with a budget of more than EUR 5 million, is to develop the skills of future health professionals from the Faculty of Health Sciences of UCM in Trnava.

The simulation learning centre will provide realistic conditions for training technical and non-technical skills of future health professionals. It will also ensure the innovation of the curricula to reflect the latest trends in healthcare.

"The creation of the UCM Faculty of Health Sciences simulation teaching centre will have a significant impact on education, practice and research in the field of healthcare. Such a centre will provide students with a unique opportunity for practical learning in realistic conditions, thus increasing their readiness for real situations in clinical practice," said Katarína Slobodová Nováková, Rector of UCM in Trnava.

"Simulations allow for a safe and controlled environment where students can learn from their own mistakes, without risk to patients. In addition, educators can use modern technologies and teaching methods, which will increase the quality of education and student motivation. For the academic community, the simulation centre means a comprehensively new platform for education, and it will also benefit research and innovation, leading to improved practices and higher standards of healthcare," added Juraj Štofko, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences at UCM.

The total approved budget amounts to EUR 5,151,139.32, of which the scientific grant subsidy is EUR 4,739,048.17 and the co-financing by the university is EUR 412,091.15. The implementation of activities and the project schedule are designed for the period from 1 January 2024 - 31 December 2029.

The Simulation Teaching Centre will be built in a new building at the SNP Square in Piešt'any, which is currently undergoing a comprehensive reconstruction, financed from the resources of the Recovery and Resilience Plan, the project Consortium of Trnava Universities and from UCM's own resources. Thanks to both projects, a modern academic facility for higher education and research will be created on an area of approximately 2,000 m².
