Announcement of the Election of a Candidate for Rector of the University of Ss. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava for the Term of Office 2026–2030

The Academic Senate of the University of Ss. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava, pursuant to the relevant provisions of Act No. 131/2002 Coll. on Higher Education Institutions and on Amendments and Supplements to Certain Acts, as amended, and Internal Regulation No. 16/2025 Principles for the Election of a Candidate for Rector and for Accepting a Proposal to Dismiss the Rector of the University of Ss. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava, hereby announces the election of a candidate for the position of Rector of the University of Ss. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava (hereinafter referred to as the “Rector” and the “University” or “UCM”, respectively) for the term of office from 22 May 2026 to 21 May 2030.
The election of the candidate for Rector will take place at the meeting of the UCM Electoral Assembly on 24 February 2026 at 1:00 p.m. on the premises of the University, Bučianska cesta 4, Trnava.
Written proposals for candidates for the position of Rector may be submitted to the Chair of the UCM Academic Senate by members of the UCM academic community and by members of the Board of Trustees of UCM from 27 October 2025 to 30 January 2026, by 12:00 p.m.
The following documents are required for the nomination of a candidate for Rector:

A structured curriculum vitae of the candidate,

The candidate’s programme theses, which include a proposed strategy for the University’s development,

A statement of consent to the candidacy and consent to the publication of the curriculum vitae and programme theses,

An extract from the criminal record not older than three months.
A candidate for the position of Rector must meet the following condition:

an employment relationship with UCM.
The proposed candidate cannot be a member of the UCM Academic Senate or the UCM Board of Trustees. A person who has served as a member of the Executive Board of the Slovak Accreditation Agency for Higher Education (hereinafter referred to as the “Agency”) may stand for election as Rector no sooner than three years after the end of their membership in the Agency’s Executive Board.
Nominations for the position of Rector must be submitted within the specified deadline, in writing, in a sealed envelope marked “NOMINATION FOR THE POSITION OF UCM RECTOR – DO NOT OPEN”, to the following address:

Nominations may be submitted in person at the UCM reception desk or sent by post to the above address, ensuring delivery by the deadline of 12:00 noon on 30 January 2026.
A public hearing of candidates will take place on 24 February 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at the UCM Electoral Assembly in the Jozef Matúš Auditorium, Bučianska cesta 4, Trnava. The UCM Electoral Assembly is convened and chaired by the Chair of the UCM Academic Senate.
The election of the candidate for Rector is governed by:

- UCM Internal Regulation No. 16/2025 Principles for the Election of a Candidate for Rector and for Accepting a Proposal to Dismiss the Rector of UCM,
- the document “Schedule for the Election of a Candidate for Rector of the University of Ss. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava for the 2026–2030 Term of Office” approved by the Academic Senate of UCM on 21 October 2025,
- the document “Organisational Instructions for the Preparation and Conduct of the Election of a Candidate for Rector of the University of Ss. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava for the 2026–2030 Term of Office” approved by the Academic Senate of UCM on 21 October 2025.
