The Faculty of Natural Sciences of UCM has a new dean
She became Assoc. Prof. RNDr. Daniela Ondrejovič Chmelová, PhD. The Associate Professor will serve a four-year term from 2026 to 2030.
In her vision, Associate Professor Ondrejovič Chmelová emphasized that the faculty should continue to develop as a modern workplace that connects quality education, research and cooperation with practice. "The faculty is a community of students, teachers, researchers and non-teaching staff. My goal is to strengthen cooperation, open communication and mutual trust so that everyone feels a natural part of the academic community," she said at the public hearing. At the same time, she pointed out that the faculty stands on stable foundations and its ambition is not to implement fundamental changes, but to build on previous developments and continue systematic development.

Plans for the four-year period
The new dean bases her vision on three pillars of development: education, science and research, and social responsibility. In the area of education, she plans to support the creation of new study programs that respond to the needs of practice, the development of interdisciplinary education, and greater involvement of students in the life of the faculty.
In science and research, she wants the faculty to strengthen project activities, support young scientists, and increase the transfer of research results into practice. The third pillar is the faculty's active involvement in society, for example through popularization events, cooperation with practice, or the involvement of graduates in the life of the faculty.
Daniela Ondrejovič Chmelová also emphasizes the importance of cooperation among the entire academic community. According to her, the faculty is a common space whose direction is not created by an individual, but by a community of people: "Every success of the faculty is the result of joint work. Therefore, it is important to build an environment in which we can support each other and act as one whole."
Daniela Ondrejovič Chmelová was elected by the Academic Senate on April 14, 2026. She was appointed to the position by the then Rector of UCM, Katarína Slobodová Nováková, on May 19, 2026.
