The President appointed Associate Professor Iveta Dirgová Luptáková as Rector of UCM
The former dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Cracow in Trnava was elected in February 2026 in a secret ballot, in which she received 26 votes. She will lead the university until 2030.
"I approach this position with great humility and at the same time with determination to continue the changes that have been initiated and to open up space for what we can grow further in. These are mainly the areas of better relations, modern spaces, internationally recognized science and research, and a respected university as an educational institution on domestic soil. I believe that the success of the university depends mainly on cooperation between teachers, researchers, students, and non-teaching colleagues. I look forward to joint discussions and the work that awaits us in the coming period," said the new rector.
On Wednesday, May 20, the President of the Slovak Republic, Peter Pellegrini, appointed a total of five rectors of universities at the Presidential Palace. In addition to our rector, the head of state also appointed Klaudia Halászová (SPU in Nitra), František Petrović (UKF in Nitra), Branislav Hadzima (UNIZA), and Tomáš Lengyelfalusy (DTI University).
In his speech, the president stated that rectors take on a great responsibility: "It will also be up to you whether you can create a free, creative, but above all motivating environment for your students for their development and for the advancement of your schools. I am convinced that you possess such qualities. This is evidenced by your professional and work experience, as well as your human qualities."
